BMW carefully makes claims only about the sound of their MPE. A lot of money for nothing other than noise.

Well I think it's worth it, keeping it some sort of original and the looks are also amazing as is the sound! you keep the valve and al those things sum up for me that this is the one i want!

Is this only an exhaust change? No other part of the exhaust has been modified (ie: stock resonator, stock cats, stock dp)?

That sounds great for just the axle back. I wonder how it would sound with the stock 235i axle back muffler on the N20/26. Most videos I've seen has other mods like cat or res delete.

M235 axleback is pretty tame, it might be louder on n20 compared to stock but won't satisfy your exhaust needs if you're looking for a good burble. If you're going to try fabricating to fit an m235 axleback would recommend you do it with an m2 axleback instead (assuming you either cut your diffuser to fit quad pipes, or cut the m2 muffler from quad to dual - which is what I did when I had the m235). Same work to do it as an m2 axleback pops right into an m235. If interested let me know, I have an m235 muffler available, and will have an m2 one later when I go MPE.

Thumbs up

Sounds amazing! I need that too! But I have some questions: Is there any cutting needed to install this on the 228i? And where can I purchase the diffuser?

cutting is needed. OP stated he welded the pipe.
you can find diffuser in many different places including ebay and any place that sell BMW parts. OEM or 3rd party.

My dealer did it for me! But it ain't that hard, i did it on my Mini.
So you take a thin nylon wire and some pure alcohol, put the wire behind the letters or numbers and you pull down the wire.
The remaining glue is easy to get off with the alcohol, if that does not work you get a heater and make the glue warm.

Take fishing line, place it behind the lettering and pull in a slight sawing motion. The remaining tape can be "rolled" off (try not to touch the paint while you're rolling it), and any residue can be wiped off with an adhesive remover like Goo Gone. Wax the spot afterwards.

can't wait for more photos/videos.

quick question though, can anyone weigh in on how this will change the backpressure/etc and what kind of impact it will have on the car on a long run? i assume our 230i has one exhaust manifold being a 4 cylinder. whereas m235/m240 has two from being 6 cylinder?

No, they both have one. Only M2 has two

ah! good to know. thanks!
still though, i know the topic on back pressure has been thrown here and there.
but still can anyone weigh in on how this can potentially have any negative effect in a long run?

I think your pocket will lose some significant weight. Other than that, no harm at all
