Trunk opening by itself

Any of you experienced the trunk starting to open and close by itself?

I think my key fob battery may be dying and this is causing it.
It happened with one of my fobs a year ago, so i have been using my spare, now today this one starting doing it.

Anyone have any concrete evidence this is the cause? What is the procedure to change the batteries and where can you buy them?

Thanks!

Edit:
I found this:
https://www.youcanic.com/bmw/key-battery-replacement

we use the CR2450 battery FYI.

Uh, open AND close?

I've had the tail gate on my SUV open "by itself" a couple of times. The cause was something in my pocket bumping the button on the keyfob.

its not because its in my pocket hitting a button.

I changed batteries in both remotes now and its still happening.

It's like someone is constantly pressing the button to open the trunk.

My mother's 328 back in the day had a similar issue. Was related to the latch and somehow the whole thing got out of sync. So the car thought it was closed when the latch was open and vice versa. They had to replace something and do almost a system reset on the computer.

ok, so i changed batteries in both, and tried to use my OTHER key fob, and it doesnt have the problem anymore.

Maybe its the car telling you that the other key hasn't been used and is approaching the time to sync?
No idea, but fingers crossed problem is solved.

I read somewhere that key-fobs, like cats, can get lonely and demand attention.

The car actually displayed a message saying the battery on the wife's FOB was low a few months ago, probably it got squeezed on her purse for hours sending signals cause she usually doesn't drive the car

got 4 for $5 http://www.ebay.com/itm/4-NEW-PANASO...item56440e746f

you just follow the steps just like in the video

Do you have anything in the trunk? Maybe it's telling you to weight reduce.

I have had mine open a couple times, but I doesn't sound like the same issue. I'm sure mine are just from hitting it in my pocket. Kinda converting when I start the car and see the little warning triangle on the dash. Then I look at the other screen and it's just "trunk open" haha

If it happens to you, change batteries and switch remotes. Seems to have solved the issue.

This happened to me about 2 weeks ago. I was sitting in traffic and I got a message saying my trunk was open.. I looked back and it looked fine.. then all the sudden the message disappeared with me doing nothing. Then driving down the road, it did the same thing to me again.. I pulled over and checked.. even though it wasn't showing it was open, it was.. AFAIK, it hasn't happened since.

I have only had it happen when it was in my pocket. And that's because my wallet was pressing up against the key.
