Not certain if this was answered, but this sound is primarily on the inside of the vehicle, correct? I think I remember hearing that there are speakers for the external sound as well. Though without the proper engine/exhaust, etc... The artificial sound you code in to produce, combined with your vehicles actual setup, could make for either a horrible, or interesting outcome, no? I mean it has to provide as least as much HP gains as some of the intakes/tunes and whatnot we have seen come and go

Is there anyway to code out the lame luxury (like too much sound deadening) so we can hear the engine sound without having to play it through the speakers?

that would be a nice on the option list , moonroof delete the non power m tri color cloth seats like the rest of the world can get and less sound deadening , probably drop the m235i into the 3300lb range add a 6speed manual and they can charge extra for it like a special track package lol one can dream

I don't understand it either, why so much hate?

Personally I don't like ASD and coded mine off but it was there and I tinkered with it.

I don't expect everyone to be the same and its not like an m badge either because the ASD is only for inside the cabin so with majority of people who don't have passengers it's really only just for personal enjoyment.
Not showing it off to the world whereby m badges and exhaust do.

Im sorry but it's retarded for those that force their own personal opinions, likes and dislikes on others.

what's the difference between doing this and changing for an axel-back exhaust that just changes the sound ?
i guess the coding is almost "free" and the exhaust is not....

I'm sure if you could code E9X V8 sound on the F8X... everybody would be doing it lol
Perhaps because the axle back is actually generating a different sound ? Mechanically !

It's not some bootleg speaker generated bs that way. Just sayin.

Still let's say there is exhaust X that makes it sound just like the S55 ... then who cares how is the sound generated

or let's say you could have an exhaust that has a speaker and it saves 100lbs over the regular exhaust... would you choose the regular one cause it's "mechanical" instead of the 100lbs lighter one ?

I'm not defending anybody... it just amazing all the hate.... If he wants to hear a different exhaust sound inside the cabin... so be it....nobody else will hear it from the outside anyway.....

This made me think of what would happen if we coded pornstar noises at the various rpms

I wouldn't mind making the original active sound for my specific model louder.

I got the M performance exhaust, but with the windows up you don't really hear it driving normally. I bought it for my hearing pleasure not for others on the road!

Just little bit confused but in the list I saw n47 code, what does it mean? Even the n47 2 liter diesel could be sound modded?

This is brilliant - I want (at least try) this!

Fake sound or not - its the experience that counts!

Yup. Now it is only a matter of time before you can purchase an aftermarket digital exhaust & induction system for a couple grand.

Exactly!! The public should not have to listen to somebody's loud exhaust anyway...it unecessary and obnoxious!
