Is leaking oil filter housing leaking (image attached)?

I was just at a dealership (non BMW) looking at a 2016 228i. There was some oil and grime around the oil cap as you see in the picture. Can you take a look and make an educated guess as what caused it? I asked them and they said they just changed the oil. It was a Ford dealership so I can't really trust their expertise although I personally think the gasket is fine because there was no oil on the left...

Thanks,

No rubber seal or didn’t remove old rubber seal so two are on or just spilled oil - wonder if a ford dealership used the correct oil and reused old oil filter.
And be extra judicious buying frm a dealership.

Probably just a bit of oil residue from previous oil filter changes. It's pretty hard to change the filter without dripping a few drops of oil.

Having changed my own oil on the 228 multiple times I can tell you it's very easy to drop oil in that spot if you are either in a hurry or don't know how to avoid doing so. Since it's a Ford dealership I would think both probably apply.

it's spilled oil, you should not need an OFHG until about 80k miles.

Crank it up, if its leaking you will see it. The filter housing is under pressure when the engine is on. More than likely it's just spilled oil as stated above.
