Need Help With Upgraded Wheels/Tires for M235i

Sorry for starting another thread, but I could use some advice, and I still have questions after scouring old threads. If you have knowledge or ideas about any of the following, I'd appreciate your thoughts.
  1. I currently have a factory square set up (18x7.5 with 225/40-R18), and want to move to wider wheels and tires. Initially, I liked the idea of getting 18x8.5 Apex wheels square running 245/35 tires on all four corners. But it seems like that won't work with the stock m235i suspension. At a minimum, I would need a 5mm spacer up front; and, even with spacers, I might have problems without camber adjustments (which I don't want to make). Is that correct? Does anyone have a DD F22 running 245/35-18 square on stock suspension without rubbing or other problems?

  2. While 245/35 won't work without spacers and/or suspension modifications, it sounds a like running 235/40-18 square will work stock. For those of you who have run that set up, are you happy with it? I don't like the idea of going with a larger diameter tire, as the stock gearing (I have a 6-speed manual) is already taller than I'd like. I also don't want a taller tire in the front. For that reason, I'm not really liking the idea of running 235/40-18 in front with any set up, but I haven't completely ruled it out.

  3. I'm also toying with the idea of running the stock staggered tire set up (225/40-18 front, 245/35-18 rear) on square 18x8.5 ET 45 wheels. And I've considered getting the Apex staggered set up with 18x8.5 in front and 18x9.5 in back, with 225/40-18 tires in the front and either 245/35 or 255/35 in the rear. With both approaches, you've got a 225-width tire on a 8.5-inch rim in front, which seems like it would be pretty stretched. For those of you who have done this, are you happy with the looks? Have you noticed any effects--good or bad--on handling?

Thanks!

I'm not a tire or wheel expert. I found a web page which I found this web page link helpful to me to determine which tire profile to wheel width combination on my car:

http://www.tyresizecalculator.com/ty...ize-calculator

Another web page I found useful to compare your existing wheel/tire combination against your proposed wheel/tire combination:

https://rimsntires.com/specspro.jsp

Hope this and other posts helps.

I run a 245 up front with +40 offset. No suspension modification or spacer.

What size wheel is that on - is it an 8" wheel at each corner? I'm considering going to a square setup myself so I can rotate tires, but had heard the same thing the OP is saying (can't fit 245's up front w/o other unwanted mods).

Interesting. I have the same question as Maynard--are you using 8-inch or 8.5-inch wheels? Also, what tires are you running? (I ask because some tires run wider than others, and every mm matters when things are as tight as they are in the 2 series.)

So im running this setup:

Niche Monoblock Apex 19"
Front: 19"x8.5" et35 MPSS tires 235/35/19
Rear: 19"x9.5" et40 MPSS tires 265/30/19
Finish: Brushed clear
Stock suspension, no spacers.

No rubbing at all on the inner wall of tires or rims. Rubs on the front when i do a very sharp right hand reverse maneuver. Super minimal though.
hope that helps

I'm running BBS CH-Rs all around in 225/40/18s. The BBSs have an offset of 40. 225X40X18 are the preferred size on an 18X8 wheel. My tires are Michelin A/S 3+. I really like the setup.
