THP compatibility on 228i xDrive

Hey guys

I had a dealer inform me that the THP is unnecessary on the xDrive models as they use different suspensions compared to the non x Drives.

Could some one confirm and verify if this is true?

Does that mean THP is unnecessary on the 228i xDrive models?

Thp is necessary if you want to track the car, xdrive or not. It helps with spirited canyons and stuff too. I didn't get it, but if you want it you should get it, regardless of xdrive

THP changes the whole feel of the car. Due to the electronic active dampeners and the different variable steering rack. And better brakes. All xdrive does is get you all wheel drive.

THP pricing is a relative bargain as well. Whether you intend to track it or not, it's a wise investment for real world spirited driving enjoyment and a win/win no matter how you cut it.

I believe this was true on the previous generation BMWs. Every x-drive BMW or xi before that, prior to the F chassis had the same suspension. So those who ordered their XI with sport package got nicer seats, but no change in suspension. For this reason I didn't even consider x-drive when I made this car purchase. I skipped sport on my previous e90 328xi because it was a big price for just seats. I have heard, however, that the x-drive system in the F22 is more performance oriented and things like the THP could be added. I have not been able to confirm this improvement in the x-drive, but hopefully someone can as I plan to move back north for next winter.

Did anyone find out a definite answer to the question of THP on xdrive?

The ZTR adds electronically controlled dampers, so even if the suspension is different from a 2WD you still will received some benefit. In addition, it isn't mentioned on the build page but the ZTR also includes 245/35ZR18 tires on all FOUR CORNERS so you will have better handling. (This was a factory error on just my car I picked up 7/31, my apologies for any confusion it caused)

You need to confirm that an Xdrive will have the same tire size, but a non-staggered set up will give you much better turn in/rotation around corners and save some money because you can rotate front to back.

245s on all four corners? I'd like to see that in writing but I won't because it's wrong.
