No luck with the order. Been chasing every week. If they can confirm end of October I am happy to wait but this is crazy! Anyway after test driving the car makes me want it more!

Lots of people on the M3/M4 forum say they have heard nothing since placing orders. Orders placed March to June but with no dates. I wonder if they are having production problems at the factory?

Sooooo I've been driving a lot to break her in nicely. Now done just over 1000 miles in 10 days Some further observations:-

Gearbox
Still an absolute treat. I've been stuck on the M25 and M40 today in the UK is nose to tail traffic. Maybe it was the sun being out and that I wasn't in a hurry but the stop start was no problem. Popped in Eco Pro and it makes traffic crawling pretty easy.

2nd Looks
Maybe because its just so clean but I've received a lot of compliments on the car. More than I can remember for the X5, 5 series etc etc. It is the sportiest looking car I've had though. One guy asked me if it was the new M3 My wife said I bet that guy just made your day, hehe.

Build Quality
Must say this is great for the money. My X1 felt very 1 series, this and perhaps the current 1 series F2X range seem a leap above. A small example that used to do my head in (remember I live in the rainy NW UK) was that you could hear the relays clicking EVERY time the wipers moved on my old X1. Plastics quality also up a lot. I'm liking the diamond effect Aluminium trim too vs quite a few cars with Brushed Aluminium in a row. I heard from some they felt it was plastic looking, feeling, not for me, very nice

DAB
Minor point but this is so clear! I listen to Talksport a lot here and I now hear the presenters tapping their pens and shuffling paper. Made me laugh when I realised what it was. No chance of that on AM which used to crackle endlessly and buzz under power lines. However DAB gets a little annoying losing signal, digital of course, its all on or all off!

Seat Position
I've found the sweet spot now and its saved. One word of caution if you like the seat really high (like near max height) I noticed while messing that when you have the seat forward fully for rear access the front headrest hits the roof preventing the full flipping forward of the seat back. This happens on the F32 I was looking at for some time also in the showrooms. This is with the headrest set all the way to its lowest setting. Seriously though its a coupe so we're all going to sit pretty low in reality, just check though, it would be VERY annoying if this was your preferred seat position.

Boring Alert
OK so I like in the UK and were obsessed with MPG. Averaging 30 now, my cunning plan is to go steady into work Comfort or even Eco Pro. Going home is the fun drive. My best runs average 37mpg but that's trying pretty hard. I could make 40 with aircon off etc. What else ah yes, the car is so quick to clean compared to an F10! Also the tiny M Performance side blades actually help keep the sides a little drier in the wet...maybe in my mind!

Rear Space
No problems for the kids at all. Minor complaint about the lack of cup holder there but I didn't spec the 40:20:40 rear seat split with the armrest etc. Simple to put the kids in the front and pass back or just let them hang onto it. Its quite a cheap ish option but check it if that's essential for you.

Lights Surround
I only really noticed this when cleaning, the lights are Xenons' but the casing/surround around them is black. I'm sure they were not on the F10, that being silver/reflective, but that was not Xenons' Really does look better, especially as my car theme is black and blue. Is this standard on the lights now or just Xenon/LED headlights?

FUN
OK so to the point again, now the wraps are off so as to speak had quite a blast in the car tonight, very very fast and fun car with a lovely balance and weight. Great fun BMW. The wife says I look at this car differently to my others which probably says it all. Daughter has made me a matching black and blue 'loom band' so the final mod is all set

Thank you UpTempo (nice name!) she's settling in very nicely now, easing up and I swear the exhaust has a little more volume now...most likely heavier right foot related!

Yes finally ... cancelled the previous order and managed to find a dealer with a September built slot. Expected delivery end of September.

Thank you, even though the 2 has been out a little while I still get asked a lot by people if its the new M3/4? I think the M Performance parts confuse everyone and the front does look pretty aggressive with it.

You know what, if I had to spec an M4 now, it would be pretty much the same. Black with black wheels. I'm sure you've seen GOLFRRs M4 which which is exactly that. It's beautiful

Thanks man, yes GOLFFRR car is quite exceptional and the photos only make it look better. I'm getting M Perf black grills as I love how the front lights look menacing with this set up.

Going to call my dealer now to see if they can hurry it up!
