Option Regrets
Hello Fellow 2Addicts,
Newbee here on 2 forum but been around 5 and 3 series forum before. I was just informed last week by my client advisor, that my 2015 M235i was just finished at the plant and will soon be in route. I was lucky to get the last builds for 2015 even though I was offered a 2016 initially. The reason for the 2015, is for the Dinan S1 or P1 hookup. 2016 performance package is not available yet. My decision to purchase one, was for daily driving enthusiast purposes. With that in mind, my options were minimized to cold weather, driver asst packages and Glacier Silver metallic/Oyster Dakota leather. If I went with full optioned build, I'd spend that same amount on a Dinan package. I like Techs, but my heart is all about power/performance. The M235i is plenty well optioned already as a base model. My question to the 2 series community is, any regrets not purchasing the options you initially didn't care for? Your feedback is appreciated for my peace of mind! Thx! |

Well, I suppose at this point it is just buyers remorse if you want to change something now. I think you had reasons for ordering it the way that you did, just enjoy the M235i, it will be so much fun to drive you'll forget about the other stuff.

Mine is loaded except the Dynamic Handling Package and the upgraded headlights. I have M-sport, supposedly the M-sport suspension, but not sure if thats similar at all to the DHP.
I dont regret not getting the headlights, they are far too expensive to be worth it. |

From what I understand the 2016 and 2015 are almost identical. Just some standard equipment changed. Would Dinan actually have to develop a tune for this. Or do they have to just wait till it comes out so that they can confirm that it works ?

Hey Alps, I think I have maybe a bit of buyer's remorse. It took me a couple weeks to decide the MP options also. But will definitely enjoy the car when I get it next month.

Hey JM, I don't think they need to reengineer too much, but have to probably get CARB certification and trademarking before they can market and distribute it for sale. Which I have no ETA on. It can be as early as next year and I can't wait till then to do my upgrade.

Probably.
I ordered automatic high beams, which simply turns the high beams on and off depending on cars coming directly at you. When you code the intelligent feature in, it's like the headlights have a brain! They constantly scan/sweep/move around as I drive. You can easily see the beam adjusting to whatever the current situation is. I can literally leave my high beams on and drive the highway without blinding anyone. The car will adjust to low beam, high beam, or sometimes one side is on high while the other is on low! It's crazy. It even splits the beam around the car in front of you on a very dark road. Our lighting regulations here in the US are just STUPID. There is no reason why this should not be standard on all cars World wide. |

I'll answer in reverse... I think anybody not ordering the rear view camera will some day regret it... when they back into something!
Even my MINI had the rear beeper thing...

XTL, I was thinking about this after watching the CNET video review. I had a Nav from my previous 540i and never used it. I thought, if I didn't use it then, why would I use it now. I guess I'll find out...
