OEM alarm was standard on my 2016 228i.

I really want ventilated/cooled seats. Why do I need to go up to the 5 series for this? I think a Ford Fusion has it for $30k less.

Pretty much everyday I drive to/from Chicago I get out of the car with a hot/sweaty back. Why even shower to go to work? I'd pay the $$$, just want the option and I have zero desire for a bigger 3 series much less the 5 series. BMW thinks I aspire to own the bigger more expensive car, not the case.

Beat to it, but this is definitely confirmed. I had the same thought for the first week or two of driving and was so happy to realize.

It does annoy me that I can't leave master cruise on all the time..

So why not go with the Ford?

I agree with this. I've had BMW cars with two different systems for the cruise control: a stalk, or steering wheel buttons. With the stalk (E34 and E90 had it) there was no master button and cruise control was available at the press of the stalk. With the buttons (E39, F10 and F22) the steering wheel buttons include one that turns the system on and off and interrupts cruise. To me it is a poor design philosophy to have a control that does different things with the same action, depending on the state it was in when you pressed it. It means you have to look at something else -- a status light in this case -- to confirm what you have done, and you can do this only after you have done it.

Kinda a stupid comment. You have a thread asking what you hate about the car, I post what I hate, and then I get your response?

Well, because the Ford offers 1 item that I wish my BMW had, it lacks everything else. Either post something useful or move on.

Lol so much this. This thread in a nutshell:

"What do you not like about your car?"

"This"

"Fuck off and go buy another car then"

Hate hate the second gear. It's hard to get that shifter into it from a higher gear quickly.

Agreed! I've been practicing more aggressively lately as I'm doing a track day in October.

I wanted to check something on iDrive so I got in the passenger side (easier in the garage). Came back from walking the dog and noticed light coming through the garage windows. Learned that the parking lights that come on with iDrive only go off when you open the driver's door.

Total distortion. Poster says "X is better and $30K cheaper". Commenter says, "So, why not drive X?" Poster says, "Stupid comment, get lost." A reasonable question, a rude non-response instead of an answer.

The Germans don't trust that you really want to exit the vehicle on the first pull. I love this feature. I also love telling first time passengers to pull twice because we don't believe you on the first pull.

It doesn't need to stay that way. With coding, it can be set to unlock when the driver's door opens and then one pull opens the passenger door. Alex did that coding for me, which works well unless my passenger tries to get out first.

Unfortunately, for those who mentioned it, headliner grab handles cannot be retrofitted, per BMWAG feedback to BMWNA when questioned.

Two pushes, and two pulls. I'm getting tangled up getting out of the car. First I have to shut down the engine. Then somehow I have to let the clutch out (habit makes me shift to neutral first) before I push "Start" again, otherwise, guess what? The engine starts again. So: parking brake on, shift to neutral, clutch out, now another press of the Start button to shut off the electrical circuits. Now, clutch in, shift to first gear. At this point I am too tired to pull twice. So I leave the doors unlocked while driving.

Contact: Alex@alpinemss.com for coding to make this simpler and easier.

Am I the only person that hates third gear?? I see lots of posts/threads about 2nd gear, but I have zero issues with second - feels great. High rev match down shifts suck it right in, and 1-2 feels nice and crisp. I find 3rd notchy and occasionally miss/struggle to get it in on the 2-3 shift.

third was a bit notchy until I hit about 15k on the odo. I would double clutch sometimes into 2nd and third because they were both like that when cold. Now, all gears are butter. I've never had a single grind.

I have a hack for this.

If you have electric seats you can program the number 2 spot to have the left mirror dip down. I do this when I backup every time. Then I just press number 1 and it goes back.

Not sure if you're being serious... What I was referring to was the "ventilated seats" comment. Nowhere in that post did the poster say anything even remotely resembling "X is better" - they simply said that a cheaper car HAD A SPECIFIC FEATURE that they liked.

It's similar to saying "I love my iPhone, but I wish it was waterproof like the Samsung" and then someone saying "why not get the Samsung"? It's ridiculous, and surely you can see why. If you can't, the answer is that the poster obviously likes their 2-series as a whole more than they would like the Ford, and the missing feature (vent seats) is not enough to outweigh everything else and make them want to buy that car.

Their post:

Quote:
I really want ventilated/cooled seats. Why do I need to go up to the 5 series for this? I think a Ford Fusion has it for $30k less.

Where do they say the Fiesta is better?
