I don't understand why on Earth you would want the doors locked while driving anyway. For decades nearly every European car maker advised against it in their owner's manuals. In the event of an emergency, why would you want to slow access to the inside of the car? In theory, modern cars will unlock in the event of an accident, but what about a medical emergency? Happens all the time!

An even better solution is to change your lock settings to NOT automatically lock when driving away.

With the buttons (E39, F10 and F22) the steering wheel buttons include one that turns the system on and off and interrupts cruise. To me it is a poor design philosophy to have a control that does different things with the same action, depending on the state it was in when you pressed it. It means you have to look at something else -- a status light in this case -- to confirm what you have done, and you can do this only after you have done it.
I don't like the door lock switch is on the dashboard. It should be on the door, like almost every other car. Also,it is a multifunction switch.

I hate the driving at night. The lights suck mightily (standard lighting). I was on a trip the other day at about 4:00 am on country roads and it was no joy at all. The lights will be replaced and soon.

What do you plan to replace them with? I hate my standard lights so much, something needs to be done.

Replaced mine with these LEDs. Easy to install and light output is sooooo much better than the halogens.

I don't drive at night much, but last night I was looking at the cabin "ambient lighting". All I could make out was little spot-type lights aimed at the door handles. Is there more to it than that? Compared to my E92, it's kind of pitiful.

That's is a pretty affordable solution.

I'm wondering if anybody has installed the adaptive xenons on a base lighting f22 or if it's possible.

The more I use it the more the CD ejector mechanism sucks. It doesn't push the CD out far enough to properly grab it properly.

If you end up trying to retrofit the factory xenons please post your results. I'd be interested to hear.

The f23 doesn't even have that

All my change. I like the fact that it's a compartment with a lid versus just putting it into the cup holder.

when using the fob to open the windows, you have to hold the button down the whole time. This is the first car I have had where you had to hold the button down the whole time.

Hot air from vents

There seems to be a lot of heat soaking into the air vent ducts and coming into the cabin.

This is especially obvious after the car has been parked for a while with a hot engine.

Even when the ambient temp is as low as 15C (59F), the air from the vents is very warm, with the AC off and temp set on the lowest setting.

I know I can turn on the AC to cool the cabin, but I shouldn't have to when the ambient temp as so low. It's like turning on the heater on one side of the room just so you have to turn on the AC at the other side of the room.

I did a back to back comparison one night (ie no heat from the sun). Very warm air from the vents in the M235i, even after 10 minutes of driving. Then jumped into our other car which had also been parked with a hot engine. The air from the vents was warm for the first few minutes, but quickly cooled down to the extent that I was actually cold inside the cabin.

Cost cutting on duct insulation ?? Anyone else noticed this?

Great point and I never thought of medical emergency so tomorrow doors will not be locked when I drive away they will stay unlocked.

It can vary between cold and hot. BMW does this to control mildew in the HVAC. Be happy that they do this.
