So since there's no 228i quoted 0-60 time for a manual gearbox... does that mean there's no manual option (for the 228i)?

EDIT: there's a manual option

Lol. The CLA AMG will compete in price with any M2 that comes out. Just as the C63 AMG has with the e9X M3. An M2 at CLA45 prices is wishful thinking. Mercedes, and Audi for that matter, have placed their pawns on the board. It's up to BMW to beat them. Which i expect they will. But it won't be CLA45 cheap.

Wake me up when the CLA AMG, and S3 hit US shores. Then you'll have a ball park for the M2.

Good luck getting the Cobb AP. I'm not sure the N55 is a priority for Cobb right now.

Says right there in the front page. 6MT obviously available as they show MPG for both transmissions for both engines.

Oh thank god I'm wrong... guess I just don't really care about mileage to read that section.

Exclamation ZF 8hp Trans

I know this isn't a transmission thread but the ZF 8hp is suppose to have a fair amount of interchangeable parts.

Do you think we could swap parts from the 8hp70 in the 550i into the 8hp45 which will most likely be in the M235i

Do you detune the M3/4 engine or try and squeeze 50 MORE horses outta the N55?
As the M235i seems to, more and more, live up to the hype (100lbs less than 1 series, 22 more hp, more tq, 8 speed trans) I'm thinking more and more that there won't be an M2.

It's just like the M5 Competition vs E63 AMG. They are betting that a 10 grand premium on the E63 will sway people towards the M5. Same thing goes for the M235i vs A45 AMG.

I like it a lot!!!! I think it looks awesome!

My only problem with the new gen BMWs is the hood line. But I'm sure I'll get used to it.

$428i starts at $40,500, whereas the 228i starts at $33,025. That is a $7.5K difference, which favours the 228i greatly. However, the 435i starts at $46,000 and the 235i at $44,025. With only $2K in difference that doesn't favour the 235i at all.

I don't understand why people think the M2 would be redundant. As I said in my previous post, there's so much room left for one, although it'll be at a premium as all real M cars.

Lighter weight (CF roof and trunk, AG doors and hood)
LSD with torque vectoring
M-DCT
Quad exhaust
More hp (maybe 360-380?)
Different interior
ect...

Heck out of all the cars in the M lineup, this is a prime candidate to be worked on by the guys at Garching.

Well for my 2013 N55 here in OZ I have 2 mainstream options - JB4 & Procede, both piggy backs which I was hoping to avoid for convenience sake. Cobb have an option for the 2011 N55 but have stalled on later years. I read on the forums where one poster quoted Cobb as saying "the N55 is not a priority".

If there wasn't going to be an M2,than there is no way that the designers would put that unpainted black bumper on the lower part of the rear bumper.BMW have always had that design element on the M Sports and also in this case the M235i,because the true M car will have the more sporty fully painted rear bumper.

I am 100% convinced that there will be an M2.
