Yep. Particularly when you consider the price differences.

BMW M240i: $45,300, Passenger Capacity: 4, Trunk Volume (cu. ft.): 13.8

Jaguar F-Type 400 Sport: $89,500, Passenger Capacity: 2, Trunk Volume (cu. ft.): 7.3

Aston Martin V8 Vantage: $121,295, Passenger Capacity: 2, Trunk Volume (cu. ft.): 10.6

One of these things is not like the other. Why was the 240 even in competition with the other two? The fact that it kept up speaks volumes. Not sure if it's to how great the BMW is or how poor the other two are, but it at least says something!

Oh that sound from the Aston!

Makes you wonder why they didn't at least use an M2 for the comparison.

Interesting, and fun to watch, but really, is there anybody on earth who is cross shopping a 240 with an Aston Martin or an F-type?

240 Debatably lost due to the excessive wheelspin at the launch.

The times were so close, I don't think it's a stretch to consider the driver variations. I think 4 runs in each car would tell us more, and that is all 3 cars are incredibly, almost immeasurably, close in performance.

Price wise, no contest. The M240i won hands down.

I wonder if the xDrive M240i, being faster off the line than it's RWD sibling, would have overcome the 3/100ths of a second deficit to the jag F-Type?

No, its a family name. But now that I know there's a Maynard Mass, I may have to check it out if I get that far east.

Strong showing by the M240i, considering it was a pretty power biased run.

I wonder what a tight track time would show?

That channel's review of the M240i was one reason I ended up getting one. the host is a real fan of the car.

I own the m235 and been saying its way underrated because “its not the m2”. The m240 has 15 more hp.

An M2 would have beaten the other two - and would have been a fairer comparison too

Silly comparison. Try doing the same run 10 times in a row and I'd be surprised if the 2-series even finishes.

Racing is all about being fast lap after lap after lap.

Or even 0-60 more than one or two pulls. Can you imagine the 240, M2, M3, or any car from BMW being able to do this?
