M235i exhaust
hey guys, i just got my M235i yesterday, but compare to the 2013 135is i used to have, i'm so disappointed on this one, first guys, how does your exhaust system sound? my 1 series stock exhaust sounded very deep and not loud, it was amazing, but this M235 sounds so quiet. Also, I don't really like the new steering wheel, feels too light and also the material made of. and I don't understand one thing, how come they use all four same size of the tires? why not the rear tire should be wider?

Is the color bad too? Leather not soft enough? Rear leg room too tight?
If you have 4 equal width tires, that just confirms you paid no attention to what you were buying. Oops! |

If you bought a car off the lot in NY it came with the square 225 all season tires, along with the reduced top speed. Northeast dealers generally will not order a car to sit on the lot with summer tires if they can avoid it.
Put the top down, put it in sport plus and push the throttle down - the car gets plenty loud quickly and you'll hear the actual exhaust note with the top down.

1). Agree the steering's very light...Not bad for a first gen electric system imo. I suspect second generation will nail the steering feel and feed-back. 2). My xi came with a square set-up and I made a deal with dealer (before purchasing) to move to staggered non-rtf summer and square winter set-up. 3). I was able to test drive an oem exhaust 235 vs MPE equipped car and choose the MPE..For me its the perfect blend of growl when I want it and no-drone. Lots of good exhaust choices out there. 4). Did you not test drive the car before purchasing? Based on your op, there are some important attributes that you're not very happy with?

Regarding the exhaust
The exhaust needs time to break in. You don't get the full volume of the exhaust or even have both pipes activated in comfort or eco drivetrain. The drivetrain has to be in sport or DSC OFF to activate the full exhaust system.

To upgrade sound, get catless downpipes if you are planning on getting a JB4 or an Remus / GThaus exhaust

Considering that the 135is is basically a 135i with m performance parts and dct with higher msrp, you should just get m performance exhaust for your m235i, if you want the same exact experience.

The exhaust has no tips that come with it, you can reuse the stock ones. Although I am swapping the stock ones out on my MPE today since my carbon fiber diffuser just arrived and I want a little more contrast.

Not sure if the 135is has the same exhaust as the 335is, but my neighbor had a 335is and it was much louder than my M235, and I have to say I was a little disappointed that mine wasn't more like his. Having said that, it will get louder over the first few thousand miles, and it really is a good sounding OEM exhaust, especially with the flaps open as I have mine set up. If you aren't happy with that, then there are plenty of options to increase the sound more.
Not sure if you are referring to the steering feel, or the actual steering wheel, but I love the actual steering wheel. As far as steering feel yes there is a lot of room for improvement. It is very noticeable to me after driving my M3 comp package and switching to the 2. The steering feel for me in the M3 really gives you more confidence in where the car is going, and there really isn't much coming from the 235. I will say that the steering in the 2 is much better than some of the f30's and other bmws I have driven, but bmw has a long, long way to go in this regard in my opinion. As for the wheels mine came with the square set up which will be used for a winter set. In the summer quite frankly they suck. I ordered a set of vmr v710's for mine staggered with continental sport contact 5's so that took care of that issue. Better looking wheels than stock, and a very good, light weight summer tire. |

One other thing that I didn't realize is the OEM exhaust is actually a lot louder than it sounds while driving. I have had friends rev the car for me and do drive by's and from outside the car it actually sounds really, really good!

The 135is and 335is as another poster mentioned both came with the m performance exhaust stock. The M235i comes with a sport exhaust stock but not the m performance. Like MaximumG said, if you want the same sound, just get the m performance exhaust. Personally, I am plenty happy with the stock exhaust. 5k miles and she sounds great in sport at 3-4.5k rpm. As for the other complaints, if your car came with tires square and are disappointed, you didn't do enough research. Lots of threads on here discussing square vs staggered and how to get staggered on xDrive cars.

Yes they are on there quite tight. Also make sure to straighten the prongs back out when you refit them to the new muffler.

hey guys, sorry for teh delay respond here, is there any way i can set a notification when a new message comes in? anyway, so the exhaust will sounds the different when it's in Sport mode? I've not try it cuz i'm driving on Eco mode during the break in period for now. And i ususally don't need to test drive the car before i purchased it, cuz i pretty know what i want. any one of you guys drive s a convertible here? I was looking at the OEM carbon spoiler, but there is none on the BMW site but there is one for the coupe, r the trunk the same size?

Eco mode is a little excessive, you will be fine in comfort for the break in period (Or even configure sport to have sport suspension but not sport throttle), just be aware of the revs.
