HA. I figured there was more than just me out there.
I have spreadsheets for all of my cars. It lists every cost, part #, hyperlinks to sources, etc. In Excel I use the =TODAY() function to perform a per day cost, lol. Total $ Cost Per Day $66,051.81 Cost Per day: $25.0766173120729 That is the only cost that goes DOWN with this car. I do most work myself which keeps costs down. I paid around $57 for the car. That was sticker minus a $2500 BMW credit I surpisingly got through my job. I don't have any crazy mods. Some Mperf carbon for the interior, a Fabspeed cat, dinan turbo thing and a few other cool bits. The car's just where I want it. Maybe some wheels in the future. Who knows? I figure good records will be nice for the next owner, if there ever is such a thing. As for the Pcar thing, I have the M2 as my daily and a 981 Boxster S as a sunny day car. They both push different buttons......good ones. I'm on my 6th Pcar.......the 911 in my name was actually from my old '78 911SC (no, I shouldn't have sold it 20 years ago).

I thought everyone had a spreadsheet?
I had to do one for insurance purposes, I had an agreed value policy on mine for $90K.. I bought car in 2018 new with 5% off MSRP for 57K and had exactly $39,125 in mods.. Was one of the most fun cars I have owned ever and enjoyed it for 5 years.. sold and jumped into a 991.2 GT3.. Zero regrets modding the M2 to that level, would have taken it over any other $90K car. I still own some other fun BMWs with a lot of mods on them, also with spreadsheets for those since they have agreed value policies also. For the GT3 I have no spreadsheet, since it basically needs no mods, other than muffler deletes.

Me version of daily is a bit different since I WFH but she’s been driven through NYC winters (after salt is washed away). She was meant to be driven and that I do, once oil is up to temp, it’s always an occasion. Funds wise I’ve probably done about 20k ish, 10 of which recently came from deciding to go hybrid turbos and fueling upgrades. I know it’s a car I love because normally I’d look to drop on a splitter / side skirts or at least a spoiler but all I did was a nice three piece diffuser to round out the exhaust tips. I even warmed into liking the 788s as my winters again lol after driving in the summers with my black 763m, it makes me appreciate a good silver as black can get swallowed up especially when brake dust accumulates. |
