Question Need advice/help with mixing fuel, e85?

Im FBO/JB4/w EWG/FF with stock fuel system. Normally run Shell 92, that's the best I can buy from the stations here. Since there are zero e85 stations in my area, I have found a supplier of e100 fuel..

Some local fuel testing shows that 1g of 92(shell) mixed with 5g e100 equals about e78. That would be about 0.70 92 per 5 gallons of e100 to make e85. Ok so now I know how to make e85..

From reading the forums, Id be ok running 30% e85 or less without causing issue to the stock fuel system..

Correction** So if I add 1.5g of the e85 to my tank, I would need to add 5g of the 92pump to be safe and effective?

I want to make sure Im understanding correctly and If Im going about this in the right way. End goal is for me to buy the e100 and mix it with the 92 to safely and effectively run in my car.

Thanks guys!

You don't need to mix e100 to make e85 first. You can just mix the e100 with the 92. I just found an online calculator quick. If you mix 3 gallons of e100 with 10.6 gallons of 92 you will get e29.85. that is assuming the 92 has 10% ethanol in it.

I ran the same setup as you. I ran mine on map 7 and it was amazing. The hpfp was def seeing some strain though.

Ok I see what your saying, 100% ethanol needs to be diluted to total 30 parts ethanol in the total amount of pump gas to make 30% ethanol in the tank..

My understanding or confusion was I wanted to make it e85 first because I thought I need to run 30% of e85 to the overall amount of pump gas im putting in the tank.

Am I making sense or am I just dumb lol..

jmwilson125 I was reading N54tech thread for EWG and e85 use. JB4 recommend MAP 2 as the highest map to use with 30% e85 due to boost may exceed limitations on maps 5 or 7.. Did you experience any issues with map7 and how much e85 were you using with what pump gas? Thanks

Each car handles it a little differently. You will need to look at JB4 logs first.

I experimented with 3-4 gallons. I think somewhere around 3.4 gallons was good for me. I did not run into any issues. My fuel trims were close to maxing but not quite. My hpfp had levels drop to 11 in some cases. Apparently below 11 can cause misfires. I posted some of my logs on n54 tech and people said they looked ok.

I would not recommend starting on 7 though. Start on map 2 until you are somewhat familiar with taking and reading logs. Then move up to map 5 and see how it looks. Then you may be ready to try map 7.

For me, map 2 hit 13 psi max, map 7 hit 17.5 psi on a good run. It felt absolutely beast.

To run logs find a safe stretch of road, put car in manual shift mode 3rd or 4th gear and traction control off, floor it from 2000-7000 rpm. Open the log in Excel and analyze. I started out focusing on avg ign, trims, hpfp, Target and boost. Just read through 54 tech a million times and you will start to understand. Very overwhelming at first though, atleast for me.
