Is "comfort" throttle response in the 6MT improved with a piggyback?
I have a 2016 M235 6MT with no engine mods. I really enjoy the "Sport" throttle setting except when starting out in 1st and the 1-2 shift. It's very difficult to get going smoothly in 1st and/or execute a non-jerky 1-2 shift. I love the throttle response once I'm in 2nd and beyond and under more moderate and aggressive driving it's great. In the "Comfort" throttle setting, starting out and all shifts are very smooth, but initial throttle response is muddy in the first 20% of travel. I really like driving in DSC Off, but wish with the throttle was a bit more responsive. I plan to add some sort of piggyback in the future and was curious if the low rpm part-throttle response was better with the Comfort throttle or is it basically the same and the extra power only really evident with more moderate throttle usage.
Any detailed observations as they pertain to 6MTs would be appreciated. If there's no real difference, I'm wavering on getting the 36 mode Sprint Booster so that I can get exactly the throttle response I want, which is basically about half way between the Comfort throttle and the Sport throttle. |

Throttle sensitivity is not changed with a piggyback.
I wouldn't lose too much sleep over it tbh There are better places to upgrade the car, but this is a personal choice

I would say low end response could even be decreased...at least with the Dinan sport tune piggyback which is what I have. There is a very noticeable lag introduced in both Comfort and Sport mode. Then the boost kicks in and you take off. It's fun, but it's definitely not smooth. I also had some trouble on track with it at first. I had to be extra careful applying throttle too early exiting corners because the power curve is so non linear. I was caught off guard and got the back end lose multiple times.
If you are looking for increased and smoother low end throttle response, this one is not the answer. It is, however, a whole lot of fun once you are above 3.5k RPM. |

My m2 didn't get any improvement on throttle response with Dinantronic Stage One, either in c, s, or s+ mode.
I'm also with DP and IC. JB4 map2 makes sharper throttle response in comfort, that everyone I know can confirm.

I find the 1 2 shift in sport to also be expert difficult. getting the rpm higher in the Rev range seems to help out a bit. also, probably done on purpose, if I'm launching or accelerating with no one in front of me the shifting issues disappear.

I only noticed increased throttle response when going ER catless D.P. And Armytrix full exhaust. Freeing up exhaust typically helps with throttle response and turbo spool. The tune will prob not help much in that area.

Thanks for all the responses. Much appreciated. Looks like I may end up doing the Sprint Booster. I'll make sure to update the thread if I go that direction. I have wavered on doing a catted downpipe without a tune as well. I'm not hell-bent of chasing power gains. I want linear and controllable power in a well sorted chassis that I can play with on the street.
