Open Hole in Torque Coverter/Transmission

Honestly no sure exactly what i'm looking at, my best guess is torque converter. Anyways the question is why can I see it spinning through this hole. I noticed while under my car there was a slight vibration noise. Seems to be coming directly from this hole. Should it be covered? Everything in me says yes. Also I think I've seen a post similar to this a long time ago, but could not find

thoughts?

Access hole so that you can lock the flywheel when removing the tranny.

That's the flywheel right there? Something looks too exposed if you're seeing something through the hole.

Right?! I can literally see it spinning. And if I can see it so can salt, water, and other debris?

I would think there should be a rubber plug that should semi seal that off

This is looking away from the engine. Looked like torque converter or transmission. There was a big spinning disk inside. I only noticed because I heard a starnge sound (soft). The sound seems to be coming directly from that hole.

I'm pretty concerned at this point. Need to take the car in for service soon I will definitely have them look at this.

I went Active Autowerks. Maybe an hour. I had done my charge pipe before though and I had a buddy helping. Pm me if you need any pointers.

You went Race version correct..? How long did it take you for install ..?

Where about in Ohio are you? I may want to check out the install, lol. Last thing I helped someone do on a BMW were headers on a 3 series....that was time consuming, lol. He was going to do it in his apartment complex parking lot, I offered a driveway and a full garage of tools.

I ended up selling my E46 to the kids dad a few months later

I am in between Dayton and Cincy in the Liberty Township area. I have only seen one other M235 in my area, a red one and of course I was in the wife's car, lol.
