So I installed 2 AFE air scoops over the weekend. One for the 328 worked great, but that scoop was designed for a 328. The 335 one they said would work on the 235 not so much. The mounting screw or whatever it's called had nothing to attach to, behind it is flexible weather stripping. I would have thought the product was fine had I not just installed one that worked much better. Didn't not seem nearly as solid and I was afraid it would become unstable at speed. If they develop one specifically for the 235 I'd definitely give it another go but the 335 one wasn't something I wanted to keep. That said the 328 one worked really, really well and was rock solid.

You simply pull out the screen, mount the scoop, and then reinsert the screen. It's completely stable then. I had no issues mounting the scoop on my M235.....which I removed months later because datalogging showed no benefit. I left out the screen, added my M2 OEM lower airbox, and called it a day.

I did that bit it didn't seem as good as the one on the 328. I'm sure had I not compared the two I'd be happy with the 235 one but it's not nearly as good without the retaining screw.

Not really. Intake temps have remained close to stock in slower driving and at stops. At most, i may see 10 degree higher temps when sitting at a really long light in hot weather. At consistent and higher speeds, there's no difference.

The real benefit is the increased induction and turbo sound. You sound faster

I got it from ECS Tuning. It's also known as the "MPPK" airbox.

I was also worried about the lack of a real mounting screw, but it's been fine. In terms of temps I see at best a 10° drop before I'm heat soaked. Maybe a 5° drop when soaked. However, it's a fun little project and worth the small amount I paid for it.

To be perfectly honest I would have thought it fine too had I not literally just installed another one on the wagon that had the mounting screw and seemed a lot more stable. Since I had the point of comparison it made me second guess the 2-series install more than I ordinarily would have.
