Hey guys I don’t post on here much but I have a 2016 228i luxury pkg convertible (owned since new). I now have 40k miles in 2021. I don’t post much on here because I’m usually enjoying my car or training/playing/coaching basketball. Ohh another good reason to not post much is due to my car being relatively bone stock. It is in excellent BMW cca enthusiast owned condition but these forums are for the modded and ///M series cars. (Dad owns a 1M coupe and brother owns a E30 M3).

▶️▶️🙏🏻 The reason for the post is that my wife threw a hard plastic roller gel canister at the car as I was driving down the driveway because she didn’t want me to go to the gym this morning. I didn’t get pissed of but I was definitely yelling when I got out and looked lol😂. The trim on door is toast now and I’m looking to get a new one ASAP! I ended up getting her flowers and left an apology. I started training my 5/6th graders for basketball just as we started practicing this week. What a crazy and hectic week. Is it Sunday yet?! Guys please pony me on the right direction as to get part # , for a new or used trim. Passenger door. In the mean time I’ll be trying to find salvage places all along the East coast to possibly find a trim off of a junk yard car. Any help is appreciated!

Multiple vendors have new ones for around $65

I'm not sure about assembly/disassembly but it likely slides on.

On the plus side it's probably the cheapest thing on the car to have something thrown at...

You’re damn right lol 😂..Thanks! 🙏🏻 It’s polished…it has the same gloss look as the exterior trim on my E30.

Upon further inspection with a halogen light in a garage I noticed small indentions on the door...so I had my PDR guy repair it.

I't been awhile but the trim hasn't been replaced...and my car was a southern car from new so there is cloudy marks on all the exterior aluminum polish trims (fallout rain markings). This has been like this from new was it was sitting on the dealers lot in 2016 for several months in a warm climate.
I've never gone full effort to remove this as it's not too noticeable. It will be noticeable once I replace the dented door trim ! Ugh.

I've been thinking about replacing the entire door/window trims which transitions to the convertible aluminum surround larger u shaped trim.

If I have to do this..how much does each trim piece cost? There's 4 pieces and then the reread boot trim.

Go to www.realoem.com and enter the last 7 characters of your car's vehivle identification ummber. Hit enter and bookmakr the page. This will give you the part number for every part in your car.

Once you have the part #s from realoem.com you can search/shop for the best pricing. Many BMW dealers offer online sales; some even use eBay so check there, too. Once you have the discounted online prices you could go to your local dealership & see if they could match the pricing to gain your business.

You could have all your trim pieces wrapped with vinyl in the color of your choice (gloss or satin black) if you wanted it all to match. There really isn't an easy solution to un-fogging your older trim.
