Hey there fellow 2addicts,

I've noticed that a fair few JB4 modules and down pipes have popped up on the member classifieds here. In an effort to quench a thirst for more power while keeping some wads of cash in my pocket, I've been looking into taking that step rather than trading up.

However, the number of these two products I've seen detached from their hosts is a bit worrying. The stink of a catless DP is something I could probably live with, but not interference with mechanical operation per the JB4.

With an AFE intake and BMS Stage 1 set up right now, I've had no issues beyond a very brief CEL, and 2 or 3 odd startups in cold weather.

Could anyone chime in on the pros/cons of the fabled "Stage 2"?

BMS Stage 1 and JB4 map 1 (the map most users run) are the same. With JB4, you have the flexibility to experiment with different fueling and additional mods as JB4 is very adaptable. Additionally, you have the ability to log the car and see if she's running healthy!

I have had zero issues running most recent version of Jb4 w/OBD2 and ver. 3 Bluetooth module. Im an intercooler install short of FBO and mix 4 gal E85 to 93 in both map 2 and 5... i would recommend it but have also contemplated a flash after warranty expires. Good luck

Another option to get quality parts + warranty is to check the vendor section for combo deals

I would also recommend the JB4. Mine I got new from x-ph since I didn't want to deal with any potential issue with used electronics. Went with a Wagner catless DP at first, but only had it on a week before I decided to go with a Wagner catted pipe since the catless smelled so bad. The DPs I got used on this forum.

I have a catless downpipe, cold air intake, intercooler, and JB4 with the bluetooth module (essential in my opinion). Most of the time I just run Map 2 although for a while I was running E85 with Map 5. I haven't had any issues and the car has been extremely reliable for almost 42,000 miles now with mods. I have a methanol injection kit as well but haven't gotten around to putting it in.

Mod away my friend.

I have this exact same setup with no issues. I have actually been running map 7 lately. A couple small bugs with that but seems to be going well so far.

Pi is only needed with Stage 2 turbos.

Meth is a good option for getting the most out of the stock turbos and will allow you to max out around 425whp. You will need jb4 to push boost to max.

I get no smell from my catless DP. Never have on any of my cars.

The only time I might smell it is if the wind blows the fumes from my tail pipes to my open window.

If you're getting fumes in the cabin and the above scenario isn't the cause you have an exhaust leak. Probably from the DP install.

Not sure I can speak for the classifieds market but as the car ages and grows so does the classifieds section.

When in doubt by new.

If you are worried about smell for going catless, consider a high flow catted option.

I have run both high flow and catless. If stock is 0-10 smell then highflow is 2 and catless is 3.5

No meth for me only 3-4 fall e85. I suspect if I ran meth I would get better timing due to lower temps? I'm still pretty new to tuning and learning alot every day

I thought map 7 was out of the question without high octane race gas or some way to deliver additional fuel.

I must have to get my nose calibrated. Never noticed an in-cabin smell from the catless DPs in like my last 5 cars.

meth supplies the higher octane (110+) and adds additional cooling.
