Check Engine Light with Downpipe?

If I install a catless downpipe on my M235i, will the check engine light come on? The downpipe I was thinking about installing was the 4-inch catless downpipe from Shifteck. Do I need to buy an additional sensor with the downpipe so my check engine light doesn't turn on?

Any help is appreciated, thank you.

Yes, it'll come on. You can use a tune or a simulator. I use mini cat to keep cel light off until I'm ready for a tune.

Once I tune will the light go off? Because I don't plan to install my intake and downpipe until I have my tune.

What tune will you be using? I don't know about other tunes, but the JB4 will supress the CEL caused by a catless downpipe.

The tune/tuner can stop the cel. If your going to wait you don't need anything I'm sure the tune you get will stop the cel.

I might go with ESS or Active Autowerk but I have not decided yet. I need to know which tune will take my engine light away for sure before I pick.

Yeah, I can imagine. I wouldn't want to drive around either with a constant CEL. Hope you find a good one!

ESS is a flash tune or their piggyback tune?

ActiveAutowerke8 is a piggyback and has no way to delete or suppress CEL

All flash tunes can/enable CEL delete via software (its 1 of their Pros)

Contact any of the proTUNING Freaks BM3 Dealer in California & get down with BootMod3

Best bang for the buck tune and BM3 is the Platform Game Changer

Hi,
1-get the VRSF downpipe, better fitment

2- Couple ways to suppress the code: Jb4, BM3, BMS can flap module or O2 spacer from Ebay

So a run clears it but leaves the sensor "not ready" for inspection. I believe the sim tries to mimic a working so you will not have to swap do for inspection. At least that was my understanding

Sorry if I'm deviating from the topic here, but was wondering if anyone has experience with the AR Design catted downpipe? It undercuts other catted DPs by quite a bit, and at least looks to be of quality manufacture.

Far less concerned with CEL and emissions than with avoiding the smell from the admittedly more appealing catless option.
