No drill front license plate holder

I opted to not have holes drilled into the front bumper of my 2016 m235i. I live in CA where a front plate is required and will take my chances. What no drill options are others using? Thanks in advance for any help.

Los Angeles no front-plater here; I've driven without them for about five years including six months with the BMW and have only ever been ticketed by traffic wardens, never police (even when a CHP officer stopped me for speeding). I would never encourage anyone to disregard the law -- Heaven forbid -- but the lack of a front plate appears to have been demoted in the list of police priorities and it's well known that they are reluctant to pull over the more expensive cars for this kind of thing. So I suggest you wait a while and get the lay of the land before jury-rigging a solution because there isn't really an elegant one. I had a mount secured through the tow-bar once but abandoned it and never looked back.

I use a bracket made by skenedesign.com. It is a bit fussy to install but the holes are well hidden.

I live in the lovely berg of Pleasanton CA an got ticketed for no front plate coming out of my cul-de-sac one evening. New officer being coached by an older one 😠. I started counting vehicles without front plates as I continued the three miles to my destination and stopped counting at 50 so clearly enforcement is really arbitrary. I'm using the U.S. Millworks mount that screws into the front tow hook spot. It's OK, but my car has the parking distance sensors so it took a bit of fiddling to get the plate located where it won't set off the alarm. It isn't particularly attractive because it is just a naked license plate. I can't put a frame on it without tripping a sensor.

Interesting. I don't plan to keep it on all the time. I will likely leave it in the trunk and come up with a story if I get pulled over. Living in Pleasanton, the cops probably don't have much else to do.

I use the far right holes as well. It does mess with my sensors but very rarely. Here's how mine looks:

How about the European look...

My dad built a really slick, little sports car back in the '50's and he, too, did not like the looks of the big, California license plate in the front grill area of his car. So one day he got out his metal shears and carefully trimmed away all of the sheet metal around the numbers on the plate. It looked really nice and trim, much like the proportions of European license plates. And, he never got ticketed in the 15+ years he drove the car.

I use the SkeneDesign one as well, absolutely love it. No holes in front, just on the bottom of the bumper lip which are completely hidden away. I didnt want to use 2 sided tape ones because I dont know how long they last and what paint issues they cause when they come off. its funny, my OEM front bracket on my old Acura TSX came with holes that were drilled from below. C'mon BMW, think think!

Generally pretty quiet here, but this past Saturday morning when leaving about 05:30 to go to the track formerly known as Sears Point where my son was racing a Spec Miata, there was a cluster of 4 police SUVs shining their headlights on a young fellow sitting on the curb with his hands behind his back

I have the US Millworks on my 135i and the quality is amazing. Probably overengineered, but nothing wrong with that!

I was planning to do the Millworks for my 235 when it comes, but dont want any issues with the parking sensors if I can avoid it. Are people getting issues just because they moved the plate all the way over?

I bought the "lightened" version and facing the car it is mounted in the uppermost far right holes. Like I said I found that I couldn't use a frame without setting off the sensors. Also I had to fiddle with the plate being level. The end of the plate toward the center of the car is slightly lower than the outside end, getting the bottom corner of the plate a few mm farther away from that sensor. With all that is going on with the nose of our cars it looks level.
