Hy guys

There seems to be a lot of divided opinions on the transmission choice, and sales seem pretty divided too...
There's one question though I'd like to see answered, because no one ever follows up...It's still too early, but I think I'll just ask those "earlier" owners if they've regret the transmission choice after some time living with it...cause it's all love in the beginning but after some time maybe there's something else to be said!
So, let me know - Have you regret your transmission choise, and why!?

Manual trans 228 Msport no regrets at all. Traded in a 2012 128 steptronic. Best decision I've ever made

No - 6MT - But fit the M performance gearknob shortens and improves the shift hugely (in my opinion)

I got tired of shifting in stop and go traffic and got the ZF8. It works great. No regrets.

And now my wife can actually drive the car.

I've been struggling with transmission choice - going back and forth.

I've only driven manuals in my cars but we have the 8spd auto in my wife's 328 and it is fun to shift with the paddles (never put it in full auto when I drive her car).

I'm afraid I would quickly get bored with the auto if going that route so I'm leaning heavily towards the manual even though it is worse on gas. The upside is that in Canada the auto is a $1600 option so it makes the worse fuel economy more palatable.

Waiting for the 2015 order guides - I might as well wait a couple of extra months at this point.

But yes, for my needs I think I would regret going with the auto and will be bored quickly. May have to test drive both again !

I think for those having to pay extra for the auto it would be a much easier decision. In the us the free option for the auto is surprising. I wanted a 6mt but I was sad when I discovered it did not save money.

I ordered auto... In my country is the only choice... But believe when I tell you, the flappy padle gearbox gets old fast... I have had lt in some cars and very very very rarely use it... Thats just my opinion, I could be wrong..

Nothing to regret, I don't buy this car for myself to drive alone so auto makes the most sense for me. Also, my left knee is not good enough to survive the traffic in rush hour around my area anyway.

I almost threw in the towel with manuals when MB and Audi didn't offer one anymore but I'm glad I didn't.

I've only had the 235 for a few days now and I've been very impressed with the 6 speed transmission. Most of the problems I've run in to have been driver related. The clutch is just right as far as effort and travel goes. Changing gear is very direct and requires a bit more force than I would expect. But that is probably due to the shorter throws.

My only "nitpick" are the brake and clutch pedals seem kinda close together, yesterday I stepped on both the clutch and brake at the same time....opps. Glad nobody was behind me. Oh, BTW, the brakes are awsome!

I'm still in the process of learning the whole car so changing gears isn't very smooth yet.

Is that the same one made of carbon fiber? Where do you get/buy that? Is it part of a package? Is it a stand alone option? Is it an after market purchase? THANKS for your sharing!

I'm glad to see there are few "regrets" regardless of your preference. I never understood people who regret a major option like that -- If you want one or the other GET IT. Drive both and decide...... :-)

+1 - same here. Actually, the good AT was a key reason for me to select the M235 as my daily driver. No regrets at all, but will update next month after my track day at Laguna Seca.

Well, so far the regrets are even though you could argue that percentage wise the auto regrets are a hair higher...

I'm still super torn on this, but I feel shifting from auto to manual, mainly because I feel there's a much greater chance for me to regret the auto and because I've always had and loved manuals...still a month away from ordering, so we'll see where the ball drops!

Bad left knee + LA stop-and-go made the AT a no-brainier.

After a couple weeks & some canyon days in my 235/AT, I gotta say I like it. Depending on my mood, the roads and traffic conditions, I can be in comfort mode and tip the gear shift to the left for higher shift points. The wide varieties of modes, drive vs sport shift and paddles or not, let me fiddle with a variety of settings to give me the shifting I want. It's not as analog or primitive as rowing a good stick, but still very pleasurable. With better performance & mpg...

IMHO no one can shift as quickly and as smoothly as the teptronic auto can... manual simply can't compete anymore. If u were going to buy an exotic high HP car, would u go manual - I don't think so.
