Any Mustang GT holdouts?
Anyone waiting to see what the GT has to offer before plowing down the cash for the 235? With 426+ hp, std LSD, MT, decent MPG, coming in around $42; it is a serious contender on my side.
First time I have seriously considered a Ford. How about you? |

I'm really liking what I see of the new Mustang! But I'm interested in the Ecoboost model. With an intake, exhaust, and chip of course! Were getting a new car in the end of 2015. So I'm just in the research mode right now trying to figure out what to test drive.

The problem is, no matter how great the Mustang GT's performance figures are, it is a BIG car. The current model is, what, 4 inches wider and 15 inches longer than a 2 series?
I like my sports cars small and tossable, and the Mustang just doesn't qualify. |

Yes. Waiting for M2 but Mustang 5.0 cannot be ignored. A V8 manual is not something to scoff at. It is big but the sound is outstanding and performance is too.

If you are looking for power at value price, American muscle cars like Mustang or Camaro are the way to go but if you care about the total package like build and ride quality or cabin comfort which I do, no matter how good they look in the magazine there will be something to bother you. I travel a lot for work and get to drive them a lot as well and I have to say the quality overall of those car are disappointing but you get what you pay for anyway.

I'm waiting for the numbers to be released. Weight included. But in also waiting for better real world track performance on the 235. We haven't heard why the one 235 pulled outta the race yet. And nobody else has posted any hard core track time yet. So, I have plenty of time. I'm ready to move the 335, just not sure if it'll be another Bimmer (235) or the 2015 GT Premium. I'm even considering a used 2014 Stang until the M2 comes out. Whatever I get will see 128 miles round trip 3-4 days a week, so it needs to be fun. Maybe after 2 years in a ford, I'll remember why I went German in the first place.
But the handling and performance in the new Stang sure looks impressive, and for $10k less probably. Not to mention it will walk away from the 235 in the stretches and stay with it in the corners.

I'm considering it, but like it's been mentioned, weight is unknown. I suspect it will be a tank

http://jalopnik.com/the-2015-mustang...nds-1590194961 I still don't know how the M235i can weigh as much as a V6 Mustang. Is BMW using lead for sound deadeding material, or something? |

Weight is now known! Seems like HP/torque is the unknown.

You can build it here:
http://t.bp3.ford.com/2015-Ford-Mustang#/Style/Config[|Ford|Mustang|2015|1|1.|050A.P8A.....COU.44X.~YZKA A.PR.LESS.] I think the charm is wearing off for me. I'm ready to sell my Mustang. It was a great deal compared to the competition when I got mine, but it looks like they are heavier and more expensive now. I'd rather have a BMW for the same money. |

What year and how many miles do you have on your mustang? Rattles? I will kill people on the road if my car rattles or creaks.

I would never consider buying a mustang when the M235i is priced very close even with if the mustang has more power. First thing you gotta realize is the extra power you will prob use in the real world maybe less than 15% of the time. Damn you can't even use the 322hp in the 2 series unless you're a professional driver and driving it on a track.
The biggest factors for me is the build quality and at the end of the day you're still driving a Ford. Unless it's a Ford GT super car. Does that sound a bit superficial? Maybe but after driving Fords and BMWs the differences in the two in terms of driving feel could not be more different.

It's a 2011 with 90,000 miles and I can't kill it. It runs really well. I had to replace the cheap Chinese speakers in the Shaker system to make it sound like the 500 watts it has. I've done a bunch of stuff to it, but I think I'm just ready to move onto something new. |

Mustangs (or similar muscle cars) are not for me but they deserve some respect for sure...425+ HPs was supercar territory not too long ago, it's crazy you can now have that for a bit over $30k (which I think is the average for new cars sold in the US).
As some have mentioned, I'm surprised that one would cross-shop a 2-series with a Mustang. You would think Audi S3 or Golf R...STIs to some extent... |
