What kind of MPG are you getting?
Just curious what others are getting. I've had the car (M235) for 6 weeks.
I do probably 90% city driving and I'm avg'ing, according to the car, 18.5MPG!! About 5 MPG less than I expected. I'm sure part of it is the fact it's still new to me and I'm having fun but also the high city portion of my driving. Your experience so far? Car: M235i City/Hwy: 90/10 Avg MPG according to car: 18.5 Avg. MPH: 24 Approx. Miles: 1,000

I have 5000 miles on my M235i now and it's showing a combined 24.0 MPG since the day I picked it up new at the dealer.

With less than 600 miles on the clock, 35% city and 65% hwy, averaging 23.7 MPG w/manual transmission. Briefly saw 29.8 on fwy averaging 65 mph for 23 miles. About what I expected for fuel economy, no complaints!

Hahaha come on man, you know some these highways in SoCal have traffic even when there is no traffic. I can barely get above 65-70 in LA or Orange County. Unless I'm really really lucky

228i. 27-28mpg 40% city 60% highway on Eco pro. 24mpg on a mix of comfort and sport with paddle shifters. I alternate tanks.
On long highway trips usually get between 32-36 mpg. On my last highway trip of 294 miles I got 39mpg driving within 5 of the speed limit, 95% highway trip.

Yeah, I hate driving up there when I have to. It's not quite so bad here at Carlsbad though. I try traveling there in the off-hours whenever I can plan it out.

Hmm. So I'm the only one under 20 mpg so far. WTF
I was expecting 30-40% better than my M3 which was avg'ing 17.5 MPG after 3 years of driving (probably 14 mpg the first couple of months).

A lot of you guys are from socal. Well I am as well and lately I noticed I've been getting 17-20 mpg. 228 6MT. BMS stage 1. I drive quite spiritedly so perhaps that's the reason for the low mpgs but I'm not positive. In Orange County everyone takes off from a stop light like it's the indie 500 so I accelerate rather quickly and shift around 3k-3.5k just to keep up. When do you all shift? I reset the computer and followed the shift points in comfort and achieved around 24. But it was painful. And any slight quick acceleration and the average mpgs plummets. Also I noticed when sitting at the light the average mpgs goes down. Isn't it supposed to pause when stopped? Highway mpgs around 30-34 but holding a constant speed. Do I just have a heavy foot? I always drive in sport +. And do city driving 90% of the time.

M235i/AT/10k miles
City (Sport + w/some bouts of hooligan launches): 18-19mpg Mixed city/highway (80/20) comfort/sport: 20-22mpg Weekend trip to Palm springs w/ suitcases, dog, wife, A/C going about 80 most of the time. Eco Pro: 27mpg I'll laugh if I ever have the discipline to do a 65mph highway cruise in Eco pro to see if 32MPG is really plausible. |

I'm currently averaging 18.7 now, but I figure it's the honeymoon phase so i've been into the throttle a lot. I was getting 19-20 most recently in my 330i ZHP too which was low since summer. Hopefully once I get used to the car and it warms up a bit I'll average somewhere in the 20's. |
