.....so, to recap, someone takes a 235 and adds a body kit, makes the car faster and handle just as good as a M2, and yet many people are mad...?!?!
Imagine if someone took a 335 diesel and made it fast enough to put 15 car lengths on a Comp Package F80 M3 from a dig in a 1/2 mile, and made it handle far superior in the curves....: |

Without the braces that the M2 has factory fitted, that will-not-fit the Convertible Body, it will hardly handle as well. Nice try!

I honestly could care less if you call it an M2. I actually see it as a compliment that these guys are not satisfied with the standard 235i and want to do there best to turn it into an M2. Hey to each his own last week I saw a civic with an ///M badge that almost pulled on my car. I think the ///M logo alone adds horsepower.

I dont own an M2, but still agree that calling the car what it is, should be good enough. It's a sup'd up 235, be proud! The body and fenders are different too... if i am not mistaken. I didn't read the title at first but saw the pic and new instantly it wasn't an M2.

Full suspension and drive train upgrade. It'll crush most E9X and F8X M cars....in a straight line or in a curve. And - it'll get 40 mpg's doing it...It's not a stretch to make a non-M car can out handle a traditional M car with a little suspension work. |

My question is where did they find the parts. Front and rear bumper, fenders etc. An option like this to be able to fit wider wheels would be great.

The hate here is strong. I’m not at all in favor of trying to pass a non M car off as the real deal. However I will say that bmw kind of screwed up with the M240/235 making the car waaay too close in performance to the M2 in their stock form. Someone early on in this thread compared the m models of the past with their non M counterparts but when those cars were new there was such a big gap in performance that it wasn’t even close. The E46 M3 vs the 330 ZHP for instance, the 330 had somewhere around 225bhp while the e46 M was 333bhp. So the acceleration and performance was separated by such a significant gap that spending the extra money for the M made you feel as though it was well worth it. Lap times with those two cars were separated by a significant margain on all the testing circuits. So when it comes to the M235/240 vs the M2 that gap has closed dramatically and the performance difference is so small that if I bought an M2 I would actually be a bit upset at BMW and wonder what I spent that extra $10k+ on. I personally am ok with it because I got a car that is extremely capable of putting down lap times right there with the true M cars, but I wouldn’t be so happy if I was one of the people who just spent $20k over sticker months ago to get the M2.
