From what I understand, the mark is the cut mark.

Thanks everyone, especially Michall. I had searched this site and also Googled various search terms and failed to use "Mperformance" as one of the search terms. That was the key and led to one of the links in Michall's post above.
I got the muffler installed today. Took about 45 minutes including driving the car and off the ramps. I rented a tailpipe cutting tool from Autozone (rental is free). It took about 3 minutes of cutting and I was done. For those wondering, the ideal cut mark is between 7 1/4" to 7 1/2" as measured from where the exhaust piping enters the stock non-M Performance muffler. Essentially follow the directions provided by DINAN for their muffler install and you'll be good. I did my cut at 7 1/4". |

Every BMW exhaust.. at least on all the F series vehicles now... if u run ur Fingers along the exhaust pipe after the muffler... u should see and feel a slight dimple in the pipe. It is
small but it is noticeable.. this is the cut mark for installing the MPE onto your vehicle. Sorry for the late response. |

the mark I see in the picture is a tooling mark from manufacturing. Being the right place to cut would be pure luck. But I'd rather be lucky than good anyday.

My personal update here: I made my cut at about 6" with an eyeball of the MPE on the ground underneath the installed OEM exhaust. 6" was on the conservative side if I had to cut more off. Thank goodness I started at 6" and didn't go the full 7.5" Whew!!

Hey, I have a ramp which raises the car about 1 ft off the ground. Do you think it will give enough room for me to do the install? I am not a big guy : )
Also, did you guys have to take off the diffuser for the install? |

Diffuser removal is *not* required nor recommended. I suggest taping up your tips with painters tape with removal and installation to avoid scratching your tips or rear diffuser. |
