Unhappy Dinan delays!

Ordered the Dinan P1 setup and I've been waiting about a month! Exhaust still hasn't shipped! Starting to rethink my decision. Anyone else encountered this?

I just know the exhaust is delayed, That's all I know that's delayed on their end. Most everything is available.

There was a big delay on the delivery of my exhaust, too, but it was worth the wait. It's not worth cancelling the order in a fit of pique.

I waited several months on the intake and eventually gave up on it and cancelled order. Happy for the delay, it allowed me to come to my senses and not buy a $600+ noise maker.

Sorry to heat that OP, did you contact them?

If so did they give you an ETA?

that link will take you to the catalog I believe and are sponsors here, PM Evan to get a pretty solid price. The prices listed are MSRP and not what you pay.

You don't need the Dinan intake or exhaust to run their tune. In my opinion, the only reason to do so is for continuity. I'd go AFE intake, MPE, and Dinan tune. IMO, Dinan freeflow exhaust is not pronounced enough compared to other options to begin with, let alone to hold out for.

There's no magic to the Dinan exhaust. MPE,Active Autowerke,AWE Tuning, Super Sprint. There are lots of options.

If you used 3rd party parts, do you still get warranty?

Lets say, Akrapovic Exhaust (Or AWE or another brand), Dinan Intake, Dinan Tune. What would you get for warranty from Dinan then?

Not sure how the warranty would play out, or, support for that matter.

I would not be worried about the exhaust, the intake on the other hand...

If you throw a CEL is where things could get interesting.

Would you have to put back on stock intake for service? If I were going Dinan, I would just stick with their intake or none at all and start with stage II, no exhaust.

I had the tune installed the same day I ordered the whole P1 package a month or so ago. I could have had the CAI installed before the exhaust but since the installer isn't all that close, I chose to wait.

Got them both installed today! Too much DC traffic trying to get home to really get a feel or sound, but I do like what I have seen so far. Butt-o-meter and sound on a few quick "tromps" both seem greatly improved, even over the S2 tune which has been in for a month.

Thanks for all the feedback! Now, P2 or S1 . . ? (After the MP Diffuser.) Evan/Jason, what kind of deals do you have on that and the Dinan Intercooler..?

Dinan told me that if a car has the BMW MSport exhaust, the effect will be the same as putting their exhaust on the M235. Dinan told me that if you do the S2 engine tune and CAI, you don't need to do their exhaust.

You might be able to cancel their exhaust and save a few $

That's because neither of those systems are full systems; they're axle-backs. An exhaust is only going to help with power if the narrowest, lowest-flow section of it is upgraded. On the 2 Series, that's the downpipe.

I'll put it this way:
You have two funnels, each with the same diameter tip opening at the bottom. One holds a cup of liquid and is four inches across at the top, the other holds 55 gallons and is two feet across at the top. Guess which one will flow better?

Neither one, because the tip is the same size. Science happens.
