I've purchased a tuning box for my 218d that claims a power increase up to 190hp.

I've taken it for a few runs and used the sports displays to see the increase. However it doesn't seem to go above the stock 150hp/240lb/ft

Is this because the displays won't register the increase or because the box is doing nothing?!

It does feel like better throttle response but I'm paranoid this is just a placebo effect.

I understand from others that the HP/torque sports display is not a real measurement, but it's tied to engine RPM or something like that. So your car might actually have more HP/torque than what is shown in the sports display.

I am sure there isn't any special dyno attached but my stock 228i seems to measure correctly.

Hmm I had heard that it might actually measure it correctly, but usually the tuner boxes are a piggyback system, so it wont register. I might be wrong, but people that got bench flashes, got increased power readouts from those sport screens.

Only if the ecu was coded to show the higher numbers. Sports display is a gimmick.

This is deja vu. Could've sworn I answered this in another post.

Yeah, after install the JB in my wife X3, I was so excited to see it spew off bigger HP and TQ numbers. Max was still 240/260.

Totally based on vacuum or some other readily available OBDII parameter.

Disappointed since don't have this in the 335 or the 235.

You need the HU_NBT aka Pro Navigation... HU_ENTRY won't have the input readings... So i guess you don't have tech package....

cause Nav only comes with tech on the US for the M235

No tech. Sucks. Still can't play my iTunes in the car properly. That Y cable keeps creating static.

Apologies, I did a quick search but didn't really find an answer. Mine is a piggy back box so guessing that's why. As I said it did feel quicker as Comfort mode felt like Sport but was worried it was just in my head lol
