Is it weird that I've been eying a 4x4.. Jeep Grand Cherokee to be exact. Something about having a suv with all the tech and hauling capabilities that still gets decent gas mileage has me thinking. I don't like the option pricing that BMW puts together (for example the way I'd want a 340 would cost way too close to an M3). Getting hard to justify the cost of these cars when it seems like BMW is trending towards soft luxury rather than sporty and engaging to drive.

Im still driving my '11 135i MSport. With only 16k miles on the clock, its still practically new... Yet, its almost 6 yrs since I took delivery and Im yearning for new wheels... Ever since I saw that MT youtube of gen6 Camaro SS vs M4 drubbing, Ive been thinking about it.. Finally test drove one last week.. Loved the car.. They did a really great job with it; no longer can you turn your nose up at the Camaro... If it werent for the visibility, I probably would have bought one by now. Its not just the rearward visibility either.. Youre never high enough in your seat to see where your hood ends and the next car's rear bumper begins.. I can only hope folks can get used to that, but backing out of the parking space at the dealer and having to cut the wheel with cars on either side, I had to go on faith and intuition I wouldnt clip one of them as I had to turn and back out... Also, where does your elbow go? I have my seat up high on my 135i, and my elbow goes right on the window sill.. Cant do that with the Camaro; belt line just too high... And the trunk is smaller than the M235i.... So, Im waiting to see if the M240 makes an appearance this year, and that would be the one Id go for.. Or the M2; its still speaking to me... Then, there's the upcoming Q60 with 400hp and drop dead looks... Thats probably worth waiting for too.. After all, with but 16k miles on the 135i, what's the rush!

With that being said, Maybe an AUDI S5, BMW M240i or some other new ragtop. I would love to have a m4 cab but I've been down the hard-drop top and not again. |

Without a doubt my next car is a Cayman S! Let me explain below.

We both agreed that the Cayman S was more fun, better balanced, and more nimble. Three of my four cars are manuals, in almost every situation I will choose a manual over an Auto or double clutch, that said, even with the PDK, the Cayman S was more enjoyable than the manual Carrera. The only thing it was down on is power. I've had a modified 335, and my M4, I really don't care all that much about missing a few hp. Fun-to-drive factor wins out for me every time. The Carrera didn't make me think about ways to get out of my M4, but the Cayman S did. Today I get home from work and start looking at Craigslist...There is a 2007 red Cayman S 6 spd with 23k miles for under $30k. So i'm thinking, how do I get this car? I'm in a Lease with the M4, and put down a lot of money in MSDs that might be hard to get back if I have someone assume the lease. Wife says, the only way she see's it happening is selling the S2000. Can't do that, that car gets in your soul nearly as much as the Cayman S, especially when you put it on good german suspension. Damn first world problems. Bottom line, the Cayman S is the most enjoyable car i've ever driven, this coming from a guy with an M4 and a modified AP1 S2000. Viffermike...you'll fit in the Cayman S. Go test drive one immediately, take it on curvy roads and push hard. It'll blow you away and put a crazy smile on your face. I'm still obsessing about the car three days after the test drive. As nice as BMWs are I'm thinking of driving something Italian for a while just to get a feel for it (for better or worse). Maybe an Alpha Romeo Guilia (not Quadrifoglio) if they ever decide to put a V6 in it.

Next car for me will be summer 2018. I'm pretty darned sure I'll be back in a V8 and most likely that will be another E9x but I've got a running list of cars that I feel I should consider/drive. I prefer DCT due to wife and city, but could go manual.
My "short" list E9x M3 E46 M3 M2 RS4 RS5 Cayman S Boxster S Camaro SS Mustang GT, GT350 RS3 Golf R/S3 Giulia |

Good list. I see you're in Seattle. Are you going to the BMW 100th anniversary celebration at Lemay Car Museum tomorrow? If so, look for a Sakhir Orange M4, that'll be me.

M235i convertible in a couple of years. Probably a pre-owned 2017. Looked at Corvette, Porsche Boxster, Audi, MB, and feel it is the best all around vehicle. We live at the beach so the rag top will be the goal.

Camaro SS 1LE. I love the size and quality of the 2er, but miss the instant-on V8 response of my old Mustang. That said, I plan to keep the M235i through the warranty period, so it's not like I'm in a rush to get rid of it.

I've been chasing the Porsche dream for almost two years, and the Boxster seems to beat up my back...couldn't imagine a long drive in the little beast. The 911 is much smoother, but by the time I configure it's well beyond what I'm going to pay for a car, any car... |

Tesla Model 3 with ludicrous mode to take over for DD duties and drive the M235i for fun until the wheels fall off...
I think I'm only around 80,000th in line so who knows when that will happen. |

It's hard to say since I just got my car. Right now I'm thinking about the M2, but not sure how I will feel about it in a few years. I wouldn't mind having a Porsche Cayman myself. It seems like a natural progression for me, coming from a BMW.
