Want to appreciate your 235 more?
Take a 428 GC x-drive loaner for a day. I couldn't believe the contrast in overall feel jumping out of the 4 after an hour-20 drive and back into the 2er. I think the turbo whine and waste is louder than the engine in that thing.

Absolutely! I recall attending the "Un4gettable Driving Experience" before my purchase and driving in sequence the 4,3, and 2. BMW folks were in attendance. I chatted with one of them and told them they had a wonderful car....his reply suggested he thought I meant the then-new 4, shook my head, the 3? Nope....the 2, for several reasons! He was glad I liked something, but there was only one of the trio I wanted to get back into...and soon after, ordered mine.

Ha. I had to drive my mother's S60 one day to get new tires on it. Nice enough car for what it is and way more than she can ever use, but I felt like I was in an F1 car for a bit til I acclimated myself to my car again.

I drove a 6-Series at one of those BMW events and expected to be blown away. Not a bit of it. It's a boat. The 4 I drove was a slightly smaller boat. Give me my 2 any day.

I was using my in laws CLS550 last weekend. 400 HP TTV8 and my MIL always saying how its so fast it scares her.
*yawn*. And it was raining lol. 3 blocks and I was ready to have my car back. I feel the same way about the S85 M6. SMGIII doesn't help matters when I can stop for a coffee while the thing shifts. The M235i really is so much better in reality than people give it credit for on paper. Even dead stock. Leaves me really wanting for nothing. |

I sit and dork around online looking at mods and other cars all the time and then some days like today I get in my 100% OEM car and go for a swift drive in the country. THAT is how you appreciate a good car. My word it's such a fantastic car.

I test drove a GC 435i Msport, it felt like a big cruiser to me. It was no fun at all. I always wondered what it would have felt like with adaptive suspension, but I never did find one with that option.

I sincerely wanted to like the 435xi GC...Sexy looking thing.
Then I took it out for a long drive. Knew I'd be bored with it in a month...

I almost certainly wouldn't be driving a newer BMW if the M235i had not been available; nothing else in BMW's current lineup-save the M2-gives me even a hint of that "gotta have it" vibe...

I picked up a 2007 911 Carrera S about a month ago. A real comparison is not fair at this point. The 911 has 3 pedals and the all season tires the former owner put on it (I've got PSSs on order) and frankly, I admit I'm still learning how to drive it. My M235iX has an automatic trany and PSSs mounted. Now, I'm not even going to get into which I think is better, though they are certainly different. But what I WILL say is that after having spent time in the 911, what with the reputation it has, it has made even more clear to me just how good these M235i's are. Even with the automatic, I don't feel as though the M235i takes a backseat to the other German.

I'm with you. I'm kind of surprised when car/BMW fanatics are asking me if I did this mod or that.... I always think to myself "have you really driven the 235 yet?" Because for an every day driver, my car stock is perfectly fun for me. Anything more I feel would only be used on a track and I don't plan on going there.
