I am replacing my 997.2 Cab with this car basically for comfort as I am 6'5" and was tired of jamming myself into the 911. I read about the new convertible here on Bimmerpost. So I went and test drove the 2 series coupes, both 228i and M235i, and the legroom is way better for me. I am taking a small leap of faith and am expecting the ergonomics to be the same on the convertible. As soon as I painfully decided to sell the 911, I went to the dealer asking for an order guide, which my local dealer didn't have but found a neighboring dealer with one. I spec'd out a loaded M235i and decided to go for it. I emailed the nearby dealers for a win-win price and made a good deal at one of them. With a firm deposit in late November, they were able to change the launch car specs to my order and I will get the first one available. We are getting Alpine White over Terra

Excellent. Which dealer? What sort of a discount did you get? I am not far from you. I thought the dealers were not supposed to sell the launch cars, but I guess that's not true and/or not enforced. Other than colors, I would spec the car exactly as you did, although I have to wait for the X drive model later this year as I will be using the car for ski trips to New England. I do have a 996 cab, which I'm keeping. I'm 6'3", 280 lbs, and have no trouble fitting at all...then again I'm used to small cars...former cars include a Lotus Elise.

Masano in Reading was great to deal with, especially Chad Wallace my SA.
This is my summer car, hence no Xdrive. We like to use the wind blocker with the windows up, and in the Porsche I had a pretty upright seating position so it was tiring after a while. It was much better than the Boxster though. A new 991S Cab would be more roomy but about 130K, crazy cost. |

Cant imagine that changing either, I did mine on my own lift and there is nothing that should interfere with it down there, it wouldnt make any sense for them to make the exhaust different especially as the M Performance exhaust is just an axle back.

M235 Convertible
Mine is due at the Port on the 12th. No news on when it will be released as they have to check emissions on the first shipment which was a bit ahead of mine

Just as an update, the M235i Convertibles and 228 Convertibles are still being held up at the port. Still unknown as to when they will be released. It says "Engineering Data/Release" as the reason why.
