Front Passenger Footwell Power Outlet

Going through the owners manual and I've read there is supposed to be a Power Outlet located underneath the glove box compartment. When I went to investigate there is nothing but an empty hole. I also have the 493 Storage Compartment Package. Does anyone have this power outlet underneath the glove box?

My 2015 & 2016 235 did not have it. My z did though. I've wired everything to the fuse box in the trunk using a fuse-tap (i.e. dashcam, RD)

If you have the lighter socket at the front of the center console below the radio by the ashtray (all US cars get this), you don't get the socket in the passenger's footwell. There's only one power connection in the harness, so it's an either/or.

You can still get the parts for the outlet, install it, and tap a power line if you want to have both.

A socket in the center console would be a nice feature in addition to the USB port and the RCA jack that are already there. Like the F10.

Well. there's the one on the back of the center console. It's a nice improvement over not having one there in my E92.

Yup, assuming you remember to reconnect it after installing an amp or ASD removal harness. Ask me how I know.

Thinking about doing something similar for my dash cam.

Did you get an error message 'Battery Discharge' after doing the fuse-tap?

I have my V1, front dashcam, and a mini-USB for phone charging all from a single tap on the radio fuse in the trunk fuse block. I got no error messages after setting up the tap. FWIW, the tap is on the back side of the fuse.

No battery discharge messages at all. Both devices have been installed for quite some time and I haven`t had any discharges messages whatsoever. Works like a charm when tapped in to the fuse. For the 235 I used fuse number 147 in the trunk (credited to forum member Lazee1) but can`t recall what number I used in the x3.

I think this is part of the storage compartment package. My vehicle does not have the outlet in the trunk.

My 2016 UK M235i Convertible has four sockets as standard, (i) under the passenger glove box, (ii) between the front cupholders, (iii) between the rear centre vents and (iv) on the left trunk wall.

I was going to no-charge-delete the smokers package but fortunately, the dealer recommended leaving it as standard. As deleting the smokers package would lose me (i-iii) and (ii) is where I would insert my small rechargeable torch. They also said to leave it as standard in case I wanted to resell it to a smoker who might be put off if the sockets weren't there.
