Small over lap allows the intrusion depth of the barrier to reach almost to the door hinges, while the moderate overlap stuffed the tire only to the firewall instead of shearing the wheel assembly off. Less overlap creates more load.

Older vehicles often put the front wheel into the driver compartment crushing the drivers leg(s) and trapping the driver in the vehicle.

Correct.

Ive been the tapped driver in the older car and it's no fun. Now I drive the safest cars I can afford.

So... If this is top safety pick + from the "insurance" institute for highway "safety" what impact will that rating have on our "insurance" rates?
