Two keys but not separate?

Okay, so I have a 2016 m235 xdrive convertible. I have pretty much been the main driver but recently my wife took the car out and used her key. She wanted to set a hot key on the dash 1-8 numbers to store my mobile phone. I walked her thru it over the phone. All set... until I got in my car later that day. I used my key and her settings stayed. Odd. Undid her change an was okay. Had her try it agin with her key and it saved it.
Here's the thing, as far as I can tell that is the ONLY thing that isn't key specific.
What am I missing here? Feel like it should be part of the profile. Was that way on my old BMW as far as I can remember.
Thoughts?

The specific key profile is switched in the car when you unlock it with that specific key.

If you leave it unlocked it'll just stay with whatever key/profile last unlocked the car.

I am almost sure I tested it via locking and unlocking but I will try that again.

The car seems to be sensitive enough to know which key unlocks which door. There have been times my wife, with her key, has unlocked the passenger side door before I get to the car. However, when I sit down in the drivers seat, it starts with my profile. But any time she opens the drivers side door, it starts with her profile.

The point being, make sure the key you want opens the drivers side door.

Tagging this thread for myself. I made a backup of my profile to USB because I was po'd they deleted it without warning when my car was in for repairs before. I imported it to a loaner the other day and it matched all preferences (hvac, etc) but did not touch 1-8.
