Thanks to you all, I now can reproduce the issue by navigating and driving through the region where I recall it occurred. Kudos for finding out the source. Now if I could get the SAs to stop wasting my time.

Sad to say that I can now chime in on this thread, but the issue is now plaguing my car as well.

My destination was set in the GPS and and I was exiting the freeway when the gauge cluster started going haywire. The gauge cluster was doing the exact same thing as the video that rmastbro posted. The car itself was fine otherwise and drove normally. After I reached my destination, parked and returned it didn't happen anymore.

I've got an appointment this to have it looked out. I really hope there's a TSB they can reference and just do the software update.

If you can, please do get a TSB number and post it. You may have to ask for it. I have not scheduled my return visit yet...they waste my time.

Simple fix ....

I was also having issues with my 2016 M235i and found a temporary fix or permanent if you don't care about showing the turn by turn on instrument cluster.

As many others have already pointed out, the problem is related to the navigation displaying the turn-by-turn directions on the instrument cluster and here is a simple fix until you have time to goto the dealer to update the navi code.

Goto Main Menu -> Settings -> Instrument Cluster

Uncheck Navigation

Your welcome

Interesting workaround. Thanks for posting.
So it is not just a map corruption...
BTW, I still have 2016-3 maps. OTA update has not pushed 2017-1 yet.

Like I mentioned in a PM to you, this is a software bug within idrive where the instrument cluster has issues rendering particular roads/intersections. Maps have no issues. Once the software is updated or fixed, you shouldn't have this issue anymore.

Does anyone know where to view on iDrive which map version is loaded ?

Is there a way to force the refresh to query the latest maps instead of letting the system wait for the update ?

Thanks ....

Car returned from the shop. Technician found a service bulletin by symptom.

TSB:
SI B62 06 16

Fix:
Reprogram Vehicle / Program complete vehicle.

I've not had a chance to test this on the same route I had the issue with so I can't verify it's fixed, but glad they found something ...
