Exclamation 2016 BMW 228i Sunroof/Sunshade issue

So, I'm not sure if this is an issue or just intended functionality:
- The Sunshade (of my Sunroof) won't close when the Sunroof is being closed
- When manually closed (by hand), the sunshade does open automatically along with the Sunroof.

Am I going crazy? Is this how things are supposed to work with the 228i?

Actually, this is how 99% of sunroof/moonroof´s sunshades work.
The other 1% are the cars/suv´s mostly with panoramic glass roof that activate the open/close of the sunshade WITH a different button.

The sunshade is manual. It has a tab inside of it which catches when the sunroof opens, but that doesn't close it automatically so you have to pull it shut.

I think the main intention is you wouldn't want the sunshade to be able to be closed while the sunroof is open. Not only would it do crazy things for the airflow, but you wouldn't want it to rain in the car while you thought the sunroof was closed. Every car I've ever had has been like this, except for those with power sunshades.

Yes OP, it's normal operation.
Personal preference: at night I like opening the sunshade by itself to let more light in, offsets a bit of the tints.

I pretty much never close the sun shade unless I am parked in the direct sun. I like the natural light coming in.

Does anyone else's sunshade cover (where the plastic is) make a popping noise constantly? Especially when going over bumps or on harsh roads?
