Just finish installing my new gloss black grills on the car tonight. Easier to do than I was expecting. You can pull the bumper cover enough away to release the top 3 and two sides pretty easy; even with my big ass forearms . The key is push all five tabs down before you start pulling on the front of the grill. This will get them recessed enough so once you have the top 3 and 2 side pressed in you can pull with just a little pressure to get the top to pop outward. Once you have the top popped you reach down to the bottom two and push upward to release the complete grill. The second grill can be reached from the opening from the first removed grill. Big difference in the front appearance. The wife said it looks tougher now.

I did mine tonight, and just as a reference, here is how much of a gap you have to work with. Having smaller hands/arms is definitely a plus here, its not too much space haha

I pulled my out farther than that. The bumper cover will flex a good bit. Once I had the right amount of opening I had my wife hold it for me while I released the tabs.

On second look, did you remove the rubber hood gasket, remove the torx screws and pull the bumper cover out from under the metal tabs and plastic ends near the headlights? The photo looks like you remove the 4 Torx bolts near the radiator instead.

Never seen a CEL with this intake or any other I have installed that retains the MAF sensor. From inside the car I hear no difference, but I haven't had it rev'd up while outside the car either . The only reason I have an intake is because I have the JB4 Map 1 tune running with it. Really don't believe just an intake alone without a tune does much good; have even read that some CAI's can reduce HP/Torque in different parts of the rev range. Boosted cars like ours can take advantage of the increased airflow if they are tuned for it. My previous WRX with CAI, DP, Pro-Tune, and muffler gained 58 HP and 66 ft. lbs of torque over stock which cost me $2000 in parts plus time and labor. Compared to the $800 I have spent on the M235i to gain +28 HP and +35 ft. lbs. of torque.

Thanks, if you running JB4 then it will cancel any CEL, am not really looking
to increase power at the moment but would love a bit more sound but getting the impression that without removing a lot of sound deadening/insulation then not much I do is going to help, from the inside anyway.

Woohoo indeed...

Way easy install ... so much easier than my E82. Check out the DIY over in the F30 Forum, it explains it very well. There are some slight differences, but you guys are smart, you'll figure it out.

Thanks getBMWparts guys!!

Looks good man! Can you please take a picture from about 20 feet away? It's hard to gauge how they look from so close.

Thanks
