Peculiar M3 driver

So I'm at the gas station filling up my GF's 2012 Honda Accord, she's in the passenger seat ( she's pretty ) and a lane over is an older man in a V8 M3. So I walk over and say "which dealer do you use for service" I'm wearing shorts and a t-shirt with the name of the most exclusive golf club in the area on it ( I don't belong ) have a pleasent disposition - just trying to set the mood.
So he say's " That's my business and I don't wish to share that information " in a low monotone.

I laughed and turned around, but I don't think I've encountered such a peculiar individual in twenty-years. But damn the exhaust sounded good when he started the car.

Par for the course.. ///M drivers are either very friendly and love to talk about their car or some of the most stuck up douches on the face of the earth.

You probably would have gotten a slightly better response if you were driving your 235...somewhere along the lines of "you know its not real M car..F$&# off"

I experienced the opposite the other day. I parked next to an M4 at a store, and as I was leaving I hear someone scream I LOVE YOUR CAR! so I drive over, it was the m4 driver and he went on and on about how great my 228i m sport was.

Just to let you know, the Jaguar dealer my family used when we had an XF had friendly, cool, and seem more genuine than both BMW dealers I use. I know the friendliness and coolness are done for ratings and survey but it really comes up to the surface with the people from BMW. The other Jaguar drivers too are a lot nicer. The customers were cool too with the younger guys talking about cars/other stuff, the older guys/gals talking about their Jags of the past, but there are a few high strung, seemingly super busy people who would give glares of death if you simply look at them or ask a question. At BMW, the customers are intense...wouldn't even look at anyone. I recall seeing a Carbon Black car for the first time and asked this person "That's a very nice color, what's that color?" I received a response somewhere along the lines of "can't you see it's a dark blue shade?"

I asked an older guy in a Salsa Red XFR what color his car was and he told me "It's Salsa Red. It's pretty spicy for my age but I like it!"

Porsche dealers are a mix of either full on enthusiast or full on D-bags in both the customers and employees.

This makes me shake my head for so many different reasons. Clearly a D Bag.

I dunno. If you've been burned a few times by the casual conversation with a stranger turning into a persistent sales pitch via the email address you never gave out, you'd be cautious, too. I've had that happen a couple times (but I would still be more sociable than Mr. M4 Sr.). Of course, he could just be a D-bag/grouchy old fart.

Meh....just Myers Briggs playing out in real life....

Trying to tie that behavior and outlook to a brand of anything has no correlation at all.

I'm the OP.
I think why I posted the response ... recently my friend told me a similar story that happened at the same station outside the city. My friend Rick drives a Honda Civic for his commute as a medical doctor in the city. While walking back to his car from the cashier, he spotted Orioles CF Adam Jones pumping up his accessorized Mercedes. He walked over to relay his admiration and Jones said "stay away from me" my friend is 165lbs and 5'10".
Really with Brooks Robinson 3rd base and Cal Ripkin CF , local ball fans really dig those infielders - there is nothing wrong with wanting your space and be left alone - thing is what makes humankind superior is our senseless banter that pervades our cultures.
On the other hand at Wholefoods waiting for it to open this a.m. when the owner of a 1990 S-class saw me looking at his car, he walked over and begun a very nice ten-minute conversation. He was a Pastor in the city, just nice meeting great people with pleasant demeanor.

Lol, thats funny, so am I - and we represent less than 2% of the population!

On the M3 owner, sounded like a very lawyer like response - could be his own past experience exposed him to unwanted attention, so he did not want to offer the info.

There are four categories with two polarized results for each.

If I can speak for Hoppy for a moment, as we are both "T"s, your post is soooo typical of the "F"s! Other than that, you're doing fine!!

(P.S. My psych Master's was 1975!!!!)

You "T's" and your fact based/logic orientation.

I may be an INFJ, but I prescribe highly to Glasser's Reality Therapy developed in the 60's. Figure that one out with your logic Sportstick!!

P.S., mine was 2014, last May. Went straight through from undergrad.

You wanna see Jung smoking the something, then you should read his book, Memories, Dreams, Reflections. It's all about his "mystical experiences," such as flying in outer space in his unconscious mind. Not to say he was insane, as he contributed a great deal and his theories and practices are still utilized in the psychological community today. Brilliant man, but what brilliant person does not have their share of idiosyncrasies?

I feel ya, man!

If Glasser remembers the 60s, he wasn't there!
