Issues getting into 1st gear (manual)

Now that I think of it this did happen a few times with my 135 but not with my 235. Workaround as other have suggested is to put it in 2nd

I know nothing about this problem, but it definitely doesn't sound "normal". The fact that many people seem to be experiencing it doesn't make it any more normal either. When you put a car it first, it should go...period.

I'm not sure many people are experiencing it they are just saying it's easier to go from 2nd to first instead of searching for 1st. When I had a Mini Clubman S I had a hard time getting into 1st sometimes and accidentally was in 3rd a couple times. This process just takes the possibility of error out of the equation. By the way, good way to ruin the clutch starting in 3rd.
