Drag racing fun at Bandimere speedway
The wife wanted to see how quick her car is. So a bunch of my BMW buddies went out for opening day.
~ 7100ft DA. 13.258@103mph This is the video of the run. Couldn't hang with the 11 second Camaro http://www.dragtimes.com/BMW-M235i-Timeslip-27408.html |

Believe it or not, it's stock... The gas tank was on fumes and we put in 4 gallons of 100 octane. The air temp was favorable but the DA was a bit brutal.
This time really surprised me but the fact that it's an xDrive and an auto really helps with the ET. I honestly can't believe how excellent the car shifts throughout the gears, no delay and it just keeps pulling. I previously had a 2008 335xi 6MT and the best I ran was a 13.1@106 with a TON of mods (tune, dp's, exhuast, tires, intercooler, etc.) and the 235 out of the box almost matched it. Really great car the 235 is! |

Wow, I honestly have no idea how I managed a 13.2 at our elevation (5600 feet) versus the ~300 feet at Pacific. Interesting too that the trap speeds are similar. What day and time was that? Was it hot, I'd like to calculate the DA for that day.

Was this one of those open track days? I'm looking to go to one of the wednesday night CSP events, and was wondering what gear I must have? I'm not clear on whether I need a Snell approved helmet, or just any helmet?

As for the Wednesday nights, yeah those are open. Probably want to wait a bit because early on in the season there are a lot of people that go and it gets just too busy. As for gear, if you run 13.99 and quicker you need at minimum a Snell 2005 helmet. Keep an eye out in the Rockies regional forum on E90post as that is where we all got started hanging out back in 2007/08. We typically create a thread for a night meeting up at Bandimere. |
