I agree. I don't seek it out but rain and wind really highlight the handling. Basically, the BMW doesn't notice what makes some other cars quite nervous.

This thread hits home with me. I bought a brand new 2006 Cayman S almost 10 years ago. I drove it a whopping 11,800 miles in 9 years, 9 months. I never parked it anywhere, never drove in the rain................and never really enjoyed the car. I sold it to my best friend for a price I could have gotten with 30,000 more miles on the car. Moral of the story is I've got my 235 now and I'm going to enjoy it rain or shine. They are nice cars but they are a depreciating commodity as I'm typing this. My new motto is "JUST DRIVE IT"

EuroDude is right--just drive it! You bought it to drive it, not to look at it.
I do put mine away December-February, as I have a Focus with Nokian snow tires ready to go. But, why wouldn't you want to drive a fun to drive car? |

Some crazy OCD here. Poor folks. Water doesn't hurt most cars. I use it to wash mine . Not sure how many mph it comes out of the nozzle at, but I also use a pressure washer, and I'm sure it hits harder than 100 mph
What negatives are there from rain getting on the car?

None that I can think of, other than water spots and the need to wash it afterwards.

A second entire subject is the ability of others to drive in the rain. if someone is going to brake late/hydroplane, etc. around me on more slippery roads, I'd rather the 2 not take the hit. That's why my winter "tank"/"beater"/shopping malll car is a new Subaru, IIHS Top Pick+. The 2 is my prize...I don't go through cars nonchalantly, so this one does get treated better than the average.

I love testing the limits of the PSS's and the 2 series in the rain. Plus, in the Northwest when it rains, it smells nice and feels fresh. Also gives me a reason to do a detail job on my next day off
I have a beater truck for bad weather/winter, but as of lately I've been really enjoying this car as a daily driver. I don't see the need to keep it under wraps when it gets a bit wet outside..

I don't get it. How does rain harm the car? My 235 is my only car....I drove it through snow and salt...and yes I washed it afterwards!

I occasionally don't drive my M235i in the rain if i've just washed it, and drive my other car. Other than that, I actually like driving it in the rain. It's a small thing but, not having a new BMW before, it's nice how the auto-climate control and wipers work when raining. Also, I just like driving the car.

Every one of my BMWs have been used as a DD- including an E24 M6. The only time I don't take the 2er or Club Sport out is when there is snow/ice/salt on the roads- in which case I take my Wrangler or my wife's X3.
