Two weeks after I bought the M2, I just purchased a 2005 Acura NSX in blue. I guess that is my next car. Now I will sell my 1995 Acura NSX to make room.

I think I am too young for that even after 3 years. It's a nice car and all, just not youthful enough.
I see at least 5 a day driven by old men on their way to their downtown executive offices.
I've been thinking the same thing recently, as I'll still be shy of 40 when I'm ready for my next car in 7-10 years. If I do still have an itch to get my first Porsche, maybe I'd get a Cayman GTS or something instead.

It's kind of silly for me to think about as what's on offer in 2023-2026 will likely be pretty different than what's available today, but it's a fun-enough exercise that I thought about it anyway.

Here's the rest of my list:

- Corvette (wife won't be happy with this as she already complains that the M235i is impractical; it's a complete no-go if we have kids by the time for my next car)
- Mustang GT350 (sweet car but similar issue as Corvette, plus I'm not a fan of the car's size)
- M2 GC (much more likely option as it's more practical than the others; just wouldn't be crazy about it being at least modestly similar to my M235i, but maybe it'll be different enough in 7-10 years)
- Tesla (the 3 or a sporty model may be readily available by then)

My lease ends July 2017 so I have the option of either buying my current m235i (2014) or buy the m240i. Would it be a complete waste to hop into pretty much the same car but just newer??

M2 CS/CSL. Should be a collectible. Going ahead I only plan on buying cars that I will never sell.

I will purchase a Mercedes E class and a used Miata the same day I sell my M235i.

I need something that is better to take people/clients out in and I want something I can flog on the track.

I just looked into getting out of my lease early I'm done May 2017 so not far off your timing. You're likely going to be looking at a buyout that is MUCH more than the value of the car based on the numbers that have been tossed my way.

Just got into my 235i lease and am really happy with it, but its always fun to think about whats next.

After experiencing the e90 m3 for a short time, the true M performance is really its own level. The size and agility of the 235i makes the M2 the front runner. I would also really like to test drive the M3/M4. As I experienced between the 435i/235i comparison - the 435i was just way too underpowerd and felt like a boat. Interested in how the M3/M4 would compare with the extra power and M characteristics.

Porsche really interests me an would hope to get some wheel time in one some day. The Cayman seems to be a little more realistic from a price point that I could consider in the next 5 years vs the 911. I really have no experience with them other than hear say from other owners. Cad/Merc/Audi/Lexus - while beautiful cars - just don't seem to give me the same "gotta have it" feeling.

Summary:

M series 2/3/4 depending on test drive outcome

Maybe Porsche Cayman

Insane right? It's gotta be breaking some sort of laws of physics handling that well for the size.

Good news for those thinking about an RS3. The fender flares on the test mule look much better than the leaked pics of the red one. Hope it's aggressive looking.

Why would you want any type of vehicle from VW group of companies.

I'll stay with BMW

Standing pat with my X3 and new 228i. The X3 is my people hauler. the 228i my fun car. No plans to do anything now but may replace the X3 in a few years with another one. X3 was my first BMW and it got me hooked on BMW's.

So you wouldn't drive a Porsche?to each their own I guess, that's why there's not just one brand of car.

Agreed. My lease is up at the end of April and while I could be wrong I think those of us that were early adopters would be crazy to buy the car out. Based on what I have seen it would be cheaper to turn in the lease and buy another 14' 235 with fewer miles. That being said, I would love to pick up a Macan at lease end, which seems like a wonderful compromise if you need more space.

I wouldn't drive a Porsche I think they are ugly but if I a had a choice of any sports car it would probably be a Ferrari convertible. BMW M2 is an old design and will be out of date in 2 years but would like to have a drive.

I don't trust VW Group at all and never will. I also don't trust GM.

F80 or an RS3 or maybe if I'm lucky an Alfa Giulia Quadrifoglio.

Would love to do a pre owned boxster or cayman, but I have an 85lb Labrador, and he needs a back seat.

I was between getting the new 718 Cayman or the M240 and went with the M240 primarily because it has small backseats. I need the ability to put a car seat in the back from time to time! Plus the switch in the Cayman to a flat four engine was unappealing.
