My M240i is on it's way

Checked in with my dealer today and he informs my car has completed build, departed the plant and should now be wending it's way across Europe to "Little Britain"...

Interestingly I've checked the VIN and it says the build date was the 24th of June... Which on the thread in deliveries suggest there was hardly any gap in production... I suspect it started on the line and then stopped while it was updated.

The VIN won't register yet on the iPad driver's guide app yet... So I can't pout over it and research it sideways yet...

Blimey I better get my Lotus on the market... Anyone wanna buy a scruffy looking but mechanically perfect 40k mile Elise for £10k

I already had an M235i order in since March, but it was "cancelled" due to parts shortage so the new order went in the second last week of May.

Congrats on the new 240i; that's bound to be a great car.

I'd take the Lotus if you could ship it to Los Angeles! OT I know, but did you like it? I have a huge soft spot for this marque, being a British expat and having owned one in the '90s. Sadly, it appears that any network of Lotus dealers that existed in the US is now doomed because all the latest cars have been declared illegal for the street. I would love to own an Exige before I get too old.

Congrats on the M240i !! This is great news to hear that the production began on June 24th. Since the last build for the M235i RWD for both 6MT and 8AT were about the June 22ish time, I guess the chassis was the same but all other components are about the same so they had about one day to set up and change the parts catalog and put the new M240i in production.

My only guess is that allocation is limited to European orders first and possibly to work out any kinks along the way then finally in full swing.

Love it, I've had it for 12 years. It's real wrench to give it up, but my wife & I split, she has the 5'er and I need something I can get my two boys in.

It's actually really practical for day to day commuting and things I get high 30s MPG (UK). I'm lucky that the dealer for the whole of the country is less than a mile from my office (it's in for a starter motor at the mo and the mechanic says he sees me most mornings).

The other great thing is the community, I hoping to sell to one of the guys in the Scottish Elises group.

And the car it's a classic, the S1 hasn't really dated (to me), it handles wonderfully and at low to medium to speeds is quick on only ~120 horses.

Ooooh, just been able to download the manual, and there is an entry for Apple Car Play!

Does the Driver's guide app tailor itself to the specification of your car?

I think it does, as it shows seat heating which I have but not steering wheel heating, which I don't...

For those interested it looks like it is wireless CarPlay and it also requires the WLAN hotspot to be powered on.

You can also transfer map routes from carplay onto the car's nav system (though not vice versa).

Will have more of a delve through after work today.

Fraid not it's the Driver's Guide App which requires you to enter your VIN and I believe then downloads the appropriate docs for the spec of you car.

So if you have the VIN of your car try it, the app is available from the app store.

Just checked with the dealer this morning and they're expecting mine to arrive with them by the end of the month.

Will either leave today or on Monday.

Either way I have arranged for delivery at 0900 BST next Friday...
