Pricing

Hey All
Looking for some advice in offering a buy it now 228

So, I found a 228 that I really like, there are some things that I can live without but it's apparently been sitting on the lot for over 160 days.

228 Silver w/blk interior
Manual Trans
Sunroof
THP
M-Sport Package
Lighting Package
Premium Package
Cold Weather package

MSRP is $42.240

I'm wondering if I should start off at 10% off and go from there. Thoughts?????

They will not start becoming desperate to sell until a little closer to model year end, but you may very well get $4k off like you state above just because they want to move it.

Wow, you actually found a THP car on a lot?! It was probably a customer order gone wrong and they got stuck with it. Very hard to find THP as a dealer order. Anyway, given how long it has been sitting, 10% is a good starting point. They will probably counter at 5%, meet in the middle at 8%. *shrug*
If it has EXACTLY what you want, be prepared to be less stingy though. As I said, THP is really hard to find.
I had found "the one" I wanted and spent a few days waiting for crappy sales manager to get back to me (they had to get it from another dealer). By the time he did, it was gone. lesson learned. This late in the year, be aggressive.

Since you're in the military, you may be able to custom order one (military discount) exactly the way you want it and pay much less.

Too late to order a 2016, already tried but the production line is pretty much shut down for change over to MY2017. I'm only on orders to Kuwait for 30'ish days so no over-seas discount for me.

I used USAA on my M235i and got around 5k off the MSRP. This was back in November and included the $1000 November cash back. So 4k would be my aim point plus any extra add ins that might be offered by BMW.

Where is the car located and is it RWD? If it's someplace that gets cold, with the manual and relatively heavy options, would explain why it has been there so long. Would bode well for you getting a very strong deal.

Completely different car obvs but I got a gf a manual fiat I'm Chicago right as the new ones were coming out and it was a previous year model. $18k paid $12k, although since it's a bit of a chick car the manual made it really hard to move. My T-Reg that I got a leftover right as the facelift was coming out got 20% off sticker on a car off the lot.

Only RWD offered with manual transmission for 2 series in US market.

I cannot recommend USAA high enough in this regard.. They offered me an extra $1500 off mine that I didn't even know was available.. Apparently I didn't do my research, but my salesperson pulled it off for me..

If you are service members with USAA, ASK....

This needs to be in the pricing section. There are several threads on there which point to what price you can expect to pay for your car and could be helpful for you.

My CA just told me I could order a 2016 through the end of the month. Not sure who's correct here.

8-10% 4k under MSRP should be 100% obtainable on that car.

Threads on this as well in this subforum (2 Series Pricing, Ordering, European Delivery).

Nutshell: Some dealers will, others won't for sales-related reasons (i.e., a MY2017 is far easier to move if you reneg on your order). Also, be aware that MY2016 2 Series with Nav Pro (i.e., the Technology Package in the U.S.) are no longer order-able because of the iDrive version switchover and a spent supply of Nav units.

This should give you an idea where to start. Dealers do as they please and in the reality of all negotiations they are in control, not you.

That they will discount the car is purely whether they like you and how you handle negotiations with the dealer.

If you approach it as I want a discount, you won't get it.
