M235i or M240i??

I placed a lease order through a 3rd party provider at the beginning of the week, it was placed through a dealer who i'm told has 'an allocation'. I asked the lease company if it would be a 235i or a 240i and she said it would be a 235i as this is what the offer was on.

I've read on here about people who's orders have been placed this week having confirmed as 240i, is this going to be the case for all new orders or because the dealer had an allocation already does it mean it'll be a 235i and likely to be built sooner?

Any thoughts appreciated.

If it's being built, my guess is that you'll be getting an M240i

M240i starts production in July, so depending on when you plan to take delivery might clue you in on the car you will be getting. However ask them to find out if your allocation is for the M240i, then you will have your answer.

If you've opted for media pack professional then it's highly likely that it will be an M240i, as they don't have any parts left (yet they do appear to for the US cars... Go figure.)

If you have left it with the business navigation then it could still be a M235i....

It's a somewhat messy time to order.

We don't get business Nav in North America.

OP is in London, and Business Nav is standard UK spec.

I agree that it depends on how much you value to get a new car. I've had 3 cars so far and my last one was brand new. I had it for only 12 months. It had literally 6.7k miles max, no dents, scratches, pampered every other week. I moved to US and sold it for like 18% less than what I paid after 3-4 months having it sitting in the garage.

It was in another currency, but if I remember well, I had to save for like 30 months to get that car.

Would I buy a brand new car if I knew I was going to relocate? No. Would I buy it if it was going to stay? Definitely.
In my case, there was no CPO option, but I think they are pretty good deals. They look like new and sometimes drive like new. I would consider getting one as well.

In my mental math, the leased BMWs depreciate 40% during 3 years. To make things simple, I'd say they depreciate 15% on the first year another 15% on the secodn year and 10% on the third year.
That said, if you can get a 3 year old CPO for roughly 25-30% less than MSRP, I think it's a good deal (bmw did the inspection and warranty for you, plus they have to make money, right?)

Thanks everyone for the replies. I have opted for Pro Nav so hopefully that means a M240 but we will see. I did ask and she said it would be M235 but I don't think she knows about the delays and changes that i've read about on here. It is a factory build for sure and she reckoned delivery in 10-12 weeks so mid-end of August I think.

M240i production starts in July.

The sensible thing for BM to do would be to issue the press release announcing the car and then update all the it systems at the same time. It would make everything consistent.

I can't get a copy of my order as my dealer's systems haven't been updated yet.

I've had an email today saying delivery should be around 22nd July so I'm assuming it will be 235i although I have ordered pro media as well...

Either way I'm very excited, taking it as a bonus if it is 240 😀
