EVO's head to head rivals series kicks off with the M5 30 Jahre vs. the M4.

Surprising results, awesome video. I think the split screen on track is really neat. Love how he says the M4 is "just planted" and has "no understeer".

I give up posting on these fourms everything I post ends up being a duplicate

Both great machines. Incredible how the M4 is able to overcome its 169ps deficit (431ps vs 600ps) through agility and light weight

Now that was a good review.

I may be in the minority here, but I actually preferred the sound of the M4.

Having the choice between these two, I'd take that M5 any day, there's very few moments where as an owner, I will need the lighter weight at a track.

Yeahhhhh looks good. But its huge! And personally I find it doesn't come close to looking at as good as the M3/M4.

Cool video but for another reason.

The M5 is heavy (as mentioned) and old. Old in that it doesn't have much of the same thinking the M3/4 had. So when the next gen M5 rolls out.... oh... baby....

Old? it's not even 4 years old... F10 M5 went on sale in November 2011!
It's not as old as your 2006 mazda3

Exactly what thinking are you referring to?

The F10 M5 was first with the following things now found on the F8x:

-Solid mounted rear suspension
-Twin turbo with anti lag feature
-Torque vectoring rear axle
-Exact same DCT
-First M car with decent brake calipers and CCB optional

The F8x is lighter and use more carbon, but that difference was similar on the previous gen M3/M5 also.

Of course the F8x is a newer development, but are there really any significant technological leaps over the F10?

I've always been a fan of the M5. Until I drove the M4.

Coupes are true sports cars!

Sedans can't touch that...

It's a good thing the Jahre has the extra 25 hp over the standard M5 otherwise it would be more than a wisker finish. Nicely done M4.
