I am being told by my local dealership that ordering of 2016 2 series won't be available until late August / early September. Does anyone have other information?

That's NOT true! I ordered my 2016 like 4 weeks ago... FYI 2016 2 series started production 07/15/2015 and my car have a production date for 07/27/2015.

My M235i is in production now. I think if you are on the east coast, the 2016 models could start showing up 1st or 2nd week of August, late August for the West coast. It does take a while for the boat.

It's entirely dependent on how many allocations your dealer has available. What your dealer is saying is that they won't know if they have an allocation until August or September for a 2 series that they can assign to you for your order. When dealerships are that non-committal, I would go to another dealer. You could be waiting a very long time.

If you don't want to wait, call around to different BMW dealerships internet sales departments and ask them if they have an available allocation that they can assign to you now for you to order a 2 series. Ideally one that has a status of "112", which is scheduled for production, but the order itself is still changeable.

Dealers received their first 2016 2 series allocations in early July... production has started for July allocations already, so there may not be many left that are still editable orders, but it doesn't hurt to ask. I would jump on any remaining July allocations (be prepared to make decisions quickly) or find a dealer where you know you'll be #1 or #2 on the list for an August allocation.

The reason the dealer is being non-committal is that they won't know for sure what allocations they receive for August until they get them in August (usually the first week). They could get one, or ten, or none... that, coupled with how many people may be ahead of you waiting in line for orders, is why any given dealership may be non-committal.

Use the dealership golden rule... if you don't like the answer, try a different one until you get an answer you like. The higher volume the dealer, the more allocations they will receive (generally speaking). Bigger is often better when it comes to ordering.

Ordered mine at the end of June. My CA told me it should be here in 4 weeks, I doubt it.
