Best brake fluid?

So, I'm finally ready to replace my M Sport Brakes with the Performance Brakes. I have also ECS Stainless Steel Brake Lines and Stoptech Brake Pads for this installation.

However, I'm completely clueless on the best brake fluid to choose from . I've been told that Motul has some great brake fluids available but I really don't know which one to select:
  1. RBF600
  2. RBF650
  3. DOT 5.1

I participate on one track day per year at the most (not more), but I do need to have better brake response as a whole on street use (I travel outside the city every weekend on curvy roads with hills on which I need step on the brake a lot) so I'm wondering which of those three would be the best choice?

In addition and this is just out of curiosity, if I'm not wrong, that DOT 5.1 is the best one for track day use, but, why is it cheaper (price) than the other two?

Truly appreciate your guidance guys

I use dot 4 with steel braided lines, do about 16-20 track days a year, go through on avg 4 sets of race pads and 3 sets of rotors a year. Key to good brakes is to replace fluid often and properly bleed. If your overheating fluid on stock rotors your driving needs improvement.

If I were you I would flush before track day if only once a year and bleed after. Dot 4 is fine 5.1 if you want to spend more money but keep in mind there very hydrophobic which will lower the boiling point pretty quickly if you leave in year round.

Man, thanks so much for your guidance and advice, I think I'll go with the 5.1 then.

Guys, talking to race drivers, best fluids are Motul RBF and ATE Gold - for track use.

However, for street use - unless you plan to change your fluid AT LEAST every year, you're better off using something closer to stock. The high boiling point fluids LOVE to absorb moisture - hydrophilic.

I wish they were hydrophobic, perhaps I was into the hydroponic when I wrote my reply.

If you want the best you want Castrol SRF. Higher boiling points and lasts a lot longer. Most high temp fluids absorb moisture quicker and need to be changed more often. SRF does not absorb moisture as quickly and has a higher wet boiling point.

It is quite a bit more expensive, but you can replace it once a year and be good.

I've tracked with Motul 600 for years and am very happy with it. Never an issue on track prepped race cars or my street cars on the track.

I just bought a few more bottles from Bavarian Autosport. They have a free shipping 10% off everything Black Friday sale!

I don't think there is any substitute for flushing and bleeding the fluid. No matter what fluid you use, moisture will still get in. You need to flush and bleed to get rid of any ingress of air, moisture, contamination etc.

I think that for 99.9% of people, a high temp fluid like RBF600 will be perfect. Dot5.1 fluids will also work as BMWs should have no problem with lower viscosity fluid. RBF600 will generally last up to 1 year, but IMO should still be partially flushed and bled after every 2 events or 6 months to be on the safe side. When your performance level gets up and you are using semi slick tires, then you should bleed the brakes before every track day.

SRF has my vote for a long term solution.

If you like bleeding your brakes all the time, any other high temp fluids will do.
