I would love to see the dyno graphs... aren't these cars under-rated? 364 to me does not sound like much if the car is under rated to begin with.

I just called them and I'm waiting for a call back.

I'm going to ask the following:
1. does 2k include dealer install
2. dyno graphs or before and after whp
3. how does it work when you add mods on top of it?

feel free to provide me some questions and ill ask.

I was at my dealership this morning who is Dinan retailer and asked as well, the $1999 does not include install. I talked to the parts department about it, who said it's "both a software and hardware upgrade so we have to order it otherwise we can do it on the spot same day". Hardware I'm sure he meant was the harness part of it. He said I'd have to talk to a service advisor about the install price, but Dinan's website says 1.5 hours of labor so I'd expect it to be 1.5 hours X whatever BMW dealers charge by the hour for service.

The prices listed by Dinan are not inclusive of install costs. They do list the number of hours for install and that is what your dealer should use to charge you.

I definitely want to see dynos.

I was told $200 for labor by a BMW dealer / Dinan shop. Was also told by Dinan that if you lease and need to turn car in or sell it or whatever, the whole thing is yours to keep. If get another m235i just drop it in the new one, if another BMW can change harness and SW and save some $ that way. Or sell it used. Either way they'll support it in the future for you.

If re-usability is an option and they will allow you to reprogram it on another vehicle, then it may not be so bad of a deal. I would think though that this would be something they would advertise as a selling point.

Yes my understanding after a 20 min convo was the solution is a box (hard drive?) software and wiring harness. All of that is yours to reuse as you wish. The SW alone is $1K. Not sure on breakdown between cost of box and cost of harness, would assume box is a lot more.

I'm going to get it done and either 1. Transfer to new m235 someday or 2. Sell used for anything north of $1k which seems totally doable.

If I do it, I will do a before and after. I want to know if the gains they promise are actually there (and not rely on trying to convince myself it's there because I paid for it).

If the performance gains aren't there as promised or I am unhappy with the power delivery, I would take full advantage of the 3 day money back policy. I would still be out a few hundred for install and removal likely but better than 2200+.

Just FYI, I've called a few places and people are willing to deal. Think with a little legwork installed for $1,750 seems doable. Anyone in PA feel free to PM happy to share after I get mine done.

I got confirmation that the 364 number that Dinan advertises is at the crank.

hmmm... I'd be curious to see what the stock numbers are at the crank considering the stock dynos running around 305-308.

Figuring a 15% drivetrain loss, it would be 309 WHP which isn't all that great since haven't we seen stock dyno's close to that?

Actually here is one from @Delnari on here. It's not stock, he had an aFe intake for the baseline but that couldn't have added more than a 5-6 WHP if that? His baseline was about 295 WHP, say 290 WHP without the intake, so about a 20 WHP gain? Kind of weak, no?

Some people claim that it takes a few hundred miles for the ECU to adjust and to actually see the gains, so I don't know if you'd see the full results right away to do a back to back dyno, or within the 3 day limit even. Maybe if you drive around a bunch in those three days?

Not even sure I buy into the whole "takes time for the ECU to adjust" argument, is the same true for JB4 or do people notice the difference immediately upon install?

Yeah, if Dinan doesn't list a Dyno sheet of before and after then it would not be good business. My JB4 Stage 1 gave me +28 HP with an intake and +30 ft lbs of torque for less than $400. I really hope the +44 and +77 is from their chassis dyno they were showing pics of on Facebook. We need to see the Dyno Sheet!
